- A short, stocky man, V’geta stands at five feet five inches in height with a very muscular build. He has black hair and eyes. His posture is remarkably straight, as though he is straining for every inch of height that he can get. He frequently smiles, but it’s rarely a nice expression; in fact, his smiles are frequently malicious and even cruel. His dark eyes are constantly judging those around him and comparing them to the epitome of a perfect dragonrider - him.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
- On the positive side, V’geta is a hardworking man who sets goals for himself. He has always tried to be the best. Not just the best he can be - no, better than that. He wants to be the very best dragonrider on Pern, and he's obsessed with being seen as such.
He is intelligent and able to see several steps ahead, plan ahead, and think strategically. He is generally pretty serious, approaching things with a solemn and stern demeanor. However, he can be flippant and sarcastic, making cracks that are as much designed to cut as to just be funny. Actually, he rarely does anything just to be funny, thinking that below him. His 'jokes' are generally designed to belittle others.
Incredibly arrogant, V'geta is very sure of his own superiority in all situations. He is the best dragonrider, and dragonriders are better than wherhandlers who are better than everybody else. Hubristic, his pride - and he is very proud! - is sure to be the death of him one day. He is very aggressive and has a temper, although he tends to turn his anger inward and respond to it by trying to outdo whoever has made him angry. He values strength above all, seeking to be the strongest and the best in all things ... but especially in his position as a dragonrider.
Although he is not really a pet person, V’geta is oddly fond of felines. He doesn’t want one, but he grudgingly likes them. They’re independent little hunters and he can appreciate that.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
- Father, Veg’ta of Bronze Zeynuth, deceased
Mother, Quien, 55 [+25]
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
HISTORY:
- TW: DEATH
Born the son of a brozerider and a mere cook, Vegeta was left to the creche to raise. His father was distant at best and sought to have his son follow in his footsteps and be one of the leading voices in Benden Weyr. The highly traditional aspects of the Weyr meant that to be in power as a man, you had to ride Bronze ... and so that was what Veg’ta wanted for his only son.
Vegeta studied and trained hard to be in the perfect position to Stand as a candidate on the Sands when he turned fifteen. He was sure he was the apple of his father’s eye and never showed weakness. While he had little to no real relationship with his father, he always knew that he made the man proud.
At fifteen, Vegeta became a candidate and started presenting himself at clutches. He was an ideal candidate, strong and dedicated to being the best dragonrider possible; however, he did not Impress right at first. He was angry that he was not chosen the first time he Stood, but took it out on himself, forcing himself to be better and spending all his free time trying to improve himself.
It did not take long for him to Impress, thankfully. When he was sixteen, nearly seventeen turns old, his efforts paid off and he Impressed to Bronze Saiyath. The two were an obvious match - both strong and obsessed with that strength. They could hardly wait for their weyrling period to be over so that they could join a wing and fight Thread … not to protect the people of Pern but for their own glory.
That glory never came. They were always found to be second best. Saiyath was never the one to catch the Queen so that V’geta could become Weyrleader, and V’geta and Saiyath both find themselves becoming angrier and angrier at being passed over.
The final straw came when Veg’ta was killed in Threadfall. With no more father to impress, V’geta and Saiyath transfer from Benden to - of all places - Semaca. Surely there, where they even allow pirates to join the ranks of dragonriders and wherhandlers, V’geta would be seen for the gem that he was and would rise quickly through the ranks to finally become the best.
