PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Kind to a fault, that is the value that stands above all others. A cheerful, friendly and loyal boy who delights in seeing the joy of others and of all creatures. Loves to make new friends and learn new things especially those he believes would help him on his quest. Always more then delighted to share a story of heroes or to share his knowledge of archery. However he is very naive and easily tricked, he has never witnessed true cruelty or a manipulative hand, seeing only the best in all people.

HISTORY
FAMILY: Morgan (Farther),Eliza (Mother))
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Elizabeth (girlfriend)[a Harper)
BIRTHPLACE: Small Cothold
HISTORY:
Only child of Morgan and Eliza Matthew grew up on his mothers stories of heroes, defenders of the weak and innocent. He took each and every one of these to heart forming from them the principles that would guide his life. To be kind to all peoples, to stand for those who cannot stand, to be a champion for the weak. Matthew learnt the art of the bow from his farther who was himself a skilled archer, they would practice every morning from when Matthew could first hold a bow. Whether the winds raged or rain beat against the fields he would practice for hours. Thanks to this (and admittedly a lot of natural talent) Matthew quickly developed into a fine archer. Able to accurately hit a target at almost 120 yards, equally proficient with both hands and various styles of shooting. He would use this talent to help by hunting while his parents tended to the farm. He would spend many nights laid in the fields, he would watch the dragons and their riders dance between the stars envisioning himself as one of them, envisioning himself as one of the heroes from his mothers stories. What he wanted to do, what he wanted to be was never in question. Matthew would become a dragon rider.

However, this goal wasn't the only thing on Matthew's mind. He'd loved Elizabeth from the first moment he heard her sing. It was a warm evening, too warm, uncomfortably so. Down to this unfortunate (or I suppose with hindsight extremely fortunate) fact Matthew had been practicing in the wood in an attempt to avoid the worst of it, he was mid run when he'd first heard it. A sweet tone, the type that lays itself upon and over your shoulders embracing in such a way you wish them to never let go. He followed entranced: over fallen trees, bellow swinging branches, through thorns and bramble until he reached a clearing. In it's center the musics source, a young lady surrounded by books sat upon the stump of a tree. Matthew stepped out from the trees, introduced himself to the girl and asked her name. She took the measure of him, the bow on his back the stains on his face. Replying "noted" before gathering her books and leaving. Quite unfortunately for Matthew she had much more pressing business to attend to, as an avid reader and thinker. When she wasn't reading or learning the skills of all she could Elizabeth wrote song and would practice until her throat became dry and coarse. Had she not developed an interest in archery it's likely that the two would have passed right by each other, but whether by fate or by chance Elizabeth had meant what she said when she had "noted" Matthews name, she appeared at his door one morning and request he tutor her in archery. He was more then eager to accept. This tutorship blossomed rather quickly into a friendship and although Elizabeth's interest in the bow did not exceed the basics she came to enjoy these lessons continuing far beyond when she'd learnt all she intended and thus at 13 they were friends. By 14 they were thick as thieves, at 15 they were inseparable. At 16 Matthew asked the question, and was met with an enthusiastic yes.

Now 18 Matthew has registered as a candidate at fort Weyr he would become the defender of the weak he always dreamed of becoming. A dragon rider. The departure was a tearful one. His mother (along with telling him to "stay safe" in at least 100 ways) gave to him a book in which she had written every story she had told him, a memento that would remind Matthew of his purpose for he ever to falter. His father gave to him his bow, an old family heirloom engraved into it the greatest deeds of each of its previous wielders along with his farther quiver, the two a reminder of the legacy that stands before him a reminder of just how many stand beside him. Elizabeth's gift was a promise, she would come to fort Weyr as a Harper. That way
