A'ksei rolled his eyes. Stroking the well-oiled skin of his handsomely stunning blue partner, the rider could not fathom why folks were so stuck on whether the gold would rise soon or not.

"It's not like our numbers are hurting that badly, right?" he scorned with a click of his tongue. "Don't folks have anything better to do than hound after the poor old queen all day?"

She's hardly that old, quipped Amishuth with a sideward slide of his wedge head. Such a shame she doesn't permit us blue to chase. She is quite extravagant.

"Weeeell, you know," B'layk said, drawing out the first word a bit and hooking his thumbs into his belt loops and rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet. "That sorta thing's important to some people. The sort who wanna make a grab for power, you know? The sort who aren't content to just fish and do their job." He nodded to himself, staring out over the side of the cliff face. "It's not about numbers, not really, not when the queen flies."

Radarth nodded along with Amishuth. Yeah, I don't think you're supposed to call ladies old, he agreed. They don't like it, I think? And Serapheth... He made the mental equivalent of a nervous gulp. I, uh...wouldn't want to make her mad, sirs. She scares me. Bolder blues could try their luck with her favor, but if she made it clear she didn't like blues, Radarth wouldn't so much as look at the skies. No sir. He liked his limbs intact.

Oh she's positively terrifying, Amishuth confirmed with a nonchalant shrug of his long neck. There was a dreamy aspect to his gaze as he searched the dwindling predawn for some stars overpowered by Rukbat's light. A supernova of fear. Golden heat breathing fire onto her foes, fierce enough to bring the Red Star to its knees. But even a well-stoked flame can be persuaded to cool. She just needs a proper wine and dine with the right dragon.

And he puffed out his chest as if to say 'It's me, I'm the right dragon'. A'ksei gave a derisive snort at his bonded blue. "I like to see you breathing, Amishuth. And not a corpse. Serapheth would turn you inside out if you so much as glance at her with lustful intentions. I like a good challenge myself, but you need to know when to fold if the game is too rough."

The bluerider leaned against Amishuth's neck with the wholeness of his torso, heaving a deep sigh.

"Too early for all this, but everybody's buzzing and it's hard to sleep through all the chatter," he groaned. "Flying for leadership is the dumbest thing created. Puts so much damn pressure on Tuckal and Faranth forbid Serapheth makes the wrong choice and we get some kind of tyrant."

Oh, I don't know all that much about astrology, Radarth said, clearly missing Amishuth's rather poetic point. But I hope she does find the right dragon! It's always good when people can find the people they like. As long as the right dragon wasn't Radarth, he was happy. She seemed like too much of a gold for him to handle.

B'layk nodded agreeably along with A'ksei. "Plenty of other lovely ladies to chase who won't try to take a chunk out of you," B'layk said. Not for the first time, he was happy that Radarth was a bit more of a timid blue when it came to chasing after females. There were far too many horror stories of dragons getting mauled in flights where they didn't have the sense to know they weren't wanted.

"Oh, to be sure," B'layk said at A'ksei's complaints about gold flights. "The whole process don'ts make all that much sense. I mean, Tuckal is more than capable of taking care of most stuff. It'd be much more helpful if she had a, you know, a stable partner in the position, instead of someone new always coming in and shaking things up." And with that, B'layk had pretty much exhausted all of his thoughts on politics. There was a reason he was not one to put himself forward into positions of power. Any respect he got was won entirely by accident.
