In an attempt to rehabilitate wherhandler relations with the rest of the weyr, wherleader Ronica is encouraging wherhandlers to take advantage of several volunteer opportunities to help the weyr this winter, while threadfall lies dormant. These include several classes for weyrbrats explaining wher biology and behavior, a handful of construction projects in need of extra muscle and planning a coming sunset wher festival, for the entire weyr. There were two standing in the bowl at this announcement who perked substantially. One was heavily wounded, the other tall and lanky. Though they stood many feet apart, their minds were inherently on the same thing.

Retsuko was idly scratching FireFox's chin with a somewhat distant look on her face. Ronnie was somebody truly admirable. Their recent conversation, atop of Mackenzie's introduction of Kenziesk to her, filled her with a sort of courage that evaporated several weeks prior. Her arm would never be the same but ... if she could chance getting closer to whers and understanding them better ...

Welleue stood straight. Eyes that seemed perpetually tired refocused on each person that they were near, though they decidedly kept a distance from all in proximity. No doubt there were wherhandlers amongst their numbers right now. Welleue gazed upon their partners with wonder.
