"Well it's about time!" Chess said with an exaggerated stretch as she walked though the Wherhandler Barracks. Finally, she was able to wander the weyr as a free woman, one still under scrutiny and careful observation, but free nonetheless. At least now she could eat and bathe on her own schedule again.

Still don't trust us Kichsk reminded his handler, plodding slowly next to her. He was grateful to finally be out of their weyr too, but he still held a grudge against the leadership who had put him under house arrest in the first place.

"We'll just have to earn their trust, since SOMEONE went rampagin' through the weyr," Chess said in a scolding tone. Kichsk just grunted, showing no sign of remorse for his actions.

Briolette had met Chess before everything had happened, but ... well, she hadn't really put in the effort to get to know her properly afterward. Maybe she should have; the younger redhead had been through a lot since her wher had his little episode. Not that she thought a period of confinement was at all inappropriate for someone who had been unable to control her wher.

"He's doing well?" Brio asked by way of greeting. Briosk was by her side as well. Kichsk was of a length with Briosk, and a tich taller; he was also older and more scarred. "You both are, I hope."

Is good night, Briosk greeted, his voice calm as he eyed Kichsk warily.

Kichsk snorted at the pair that approached them. He was still wary of anyone he didn't know very well, even though Chess had told him repeatedly that he would at least have to tolerate other whers if they were going to keep living in the weyr.

"Oh, he's fine," Chess said cooly, recognizing the woman. She and Briolette had met shortly after she had come to the weyr, and she thought that she was nice, with the potential to be a new friend. The woman had never visited during Chess's lengthy house arrest though, so Chess supposed she wasn't really friend material after all.

"Ah'm hangin' in there. It was awful lonesome being stuck in our weyr that long. Hardly any folks came by to visit, nothin' but boredom and dull walls fer a whole turn," Chess replied, her tone pointed. Briolette had a whole lot of gumption to check in on her after not as much as a word for the entirety of her confinement.

The younger woman's coolness was, perhaps, to be expected - but Briolette wasn't sure it was entirely deserved. "Oh, you know how Weyr life is," she answered. "Constantly busy, with little time to spend visiting virtual strangers. Especially for those of us who have children on top of our duties."

She didn't want to start a fight with Chess; in fact, she rather thought she might like the woman if she had a chance to get to know her. She did not, however, have time to go visiting someone whose control over a temperamental wher was uncertain. "You two weren't really here long enough to put down roots before the incident," she pointed out. It probably had been lonely - but that was part of the punishment, was it not?

"Ah bet it was nice to keep busy, Ah didn't have much to do. Lots of borin' readin' not much else." Chess replied. Was Briolette really trying to list off excuses why she never visited? Yes they were only acquaintances, but she didn't need to rub in all the things she got to do while Chess was rotting away in her weyr.

Not worth fight, Kichsk grunted in her mind. Not now.

That's rich comin' from you, Chess replied, not appreciating her bonded's hypocritical advice.

Chess nodded at Briolette's words. "Ah hadn't even unpacked before the, uh, incident happened. Ah had plenty of time to get my weyr exactly as Ah like it though. Don't think Ah can say where the dinin' hall is with any confidence, though." She continued to speak with her tone cold. She wasn't saying anything mean or throwing any punches, she couldn't get in trouble for not liking someone. And is she could, maybe the weyr wasn't the place for her.

"Weyrs are busy places; I'm sure you'll figure that out soon enough." Briolette wasn't trying to be catty, but the other woman's cold tone brought it out in her a little. Only a little, though. She still offered: "I could show you around now that you're out of your barracks."

Kichsk behave? Briosk's tone was wary, but not accusatory. If Brio had to guess, he was wondering whether he was going to have to defend his handler (and potentially her children) against the older wher if he went on another rampage.

I'm sure they're both going to be fine, Briosk, Briolette soothed. But she wasn't going to put a leash on Briosk's concern.

She glanced at Chess's knots, reminding herself of the other redhead's squad. "We'll be working together in Dawn Squad," she noted. They did need to get along at least well enough for that.
