As a child, L'anin was a small, scrawny thing. He never seemed to gain any sort of weight or muscle, but was at least hardy and rarely became ill despite his almost sickly appearance. Luckily, puberty hit him like a mountain, and in a span of a few Turns he grew from a weak, undersized child to a tall, lean young man. Additionally, he's built with tight muscle rather than bulk. He does have difficulty growing facial hair beyond tiny-scruff in anything but uneven patches and as a result keeps himself meticulously clean-shaven.

He inherited his mother's fiery red hair, but was lucky enough to get the straightness of his father's instead of the wavy curls. His eyes are amber, with the red of his hair making them look almost orange in some lights. Surprisingly, or perhaps not, he is lacking in freckles and his complexion is naturally tanned. For clothing, he is typically seen with some of the latest fashions. With having pursued tailorcraft, he easily picks up the newest trends and occasionally adds his own flair to them.

Those who judge a book by its cover will find themselves misled by L'anin. At the surface, he seems little more than a shallow, shameless flirt, concerned only with fashion and his own appearance. He's fine enough to simply keep friends-with-benefits status or meet up to "blow off steam." The sort who has many acquaintances and few friends.

While it is true enough that he doesn't lust for power or status, simply floating along with the river of life, he is far from the inch-deep puddle some see him as.

Once the mask drops, one will find a man who is much calmer, quieter, and more serious. L'anin may not be in search of power, but he is in search of knowledge. Specificially, information. He trades secrets like currency, careful not to give more than he gets, acting in careful balance to make sure that anything he gives doesn't give an edge to anyone who doesn't have their own. That is to say--he makes sure to maintain the existing balance of power. While he has no formal training and is hardly any sort of spy, he finds it easier to get someone to let their guard down when they think they're dealing with a fool and keep an ear to the ground.

Those who earn the status of true friendship with him will find a loyal companion, one who would fly with them through Thread and back. He will listen and offer guidance, or simply quiet company.

Lan'zhan, often called just Lan by his partner and his dragon, has fair skin, black hair, and light hazel eyes. He is slightly above average when it comes to height for Pernese assigned male at birth, and built with compact, lean muscle instead of bulk. He appears rather slight by comparison to some others as a result. His black hair is kept long despite the trouble with care, and during leisure partially kept in a high-tail bun with a hairpin gifted by his weyrmate.

Despite the rate at which light clothes dirty, Lan'zhan can usually be spotted wearing white or light blue garments, favouring loose-fitting linens. This somehow seems to make him look elegant and graceful rather than sloppy, as the garments are not ill-fitted, simply loose-flowing.

As a child, Lan'zhan stubbornly obeyed every rule placed on him by his superiors, to the extent he would punish himself or request punishment for rules he had not voluntarily broken (for example, when he had once been dragged out past curfew). However, he does readily break rules if they go against his personal sense of justice. Despite this he is known for having a strong moral compass.

This stubbornness has not faded with time.

On the surface, Lan'zhan seems cold and closed-off, rarely speaking unless necessary or pushed to his limit, however inside he is a passionate person who feels things deeply. He especially gets jealous fairly easily when it comes to his weyrmate. He is also an absolute lightweight and can get drunk off of a single cup of alcohol, which runs in the family. He is protective and selfless, not afraid at all to sacrifice himself to protect others.

Perceptive and intelligent, he frequently notices small but important details. However, while he was the first to profess his love to his now-weyrmate, he does have some notable difficulty with expressing himself.
