  Tale as old as time, older apprentice working on journeyman status, falls in love has a gay best friend a little in love with him and a pechant for mind games, they're a hell of a duo until one day his (straight) fiancee sleeps with his best friend & Helen tells him it happened right before he has a major assessment in front of his masters that will allow him to move onto his journeyman knots. He has a breakdown onstage, forgets the words/melody of the song, jumps off the stage and runs out the door, hooks up with the first caravan he sees & gets as far away as he can. Searchrider tells him he's got aptitude, he actually impresses, & he never sings again :) (he does like fostering other people's love of singing & will encourage/help other dragonriders who want to pursue the craft, tho)
