FULL APPEARANCE:
Eloise stands at 5' 6" and has an average build, but there's still a mild roundness to her face. Though she has average features from her perspective, she's still a pleasant sight to see; her skin is light and unblemished, her hair is dark brown and kept shoulder-length, and her eyes are a dark blue color. Eloise would rather wear simple clothes wherever possible, such as a blouse and slacks, but tolerates dresses if she must; otherwise, don't ask her to get pretty.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Eloise is an intellectual force of nature, thick-skinned and independent. While she scoffs at most traditions and strives to find other ways of going about things rather than obeying customs she sees as archaic, she doesn’t believe all traditions should be cast off; ones more commonly practiced in Holds are what she finds distasteful. One such example is seeing daughters in your family wed to forge alliances, which is a glaring issue to Eloise, who'd rather not marry and has little interest in romance. But Weyr traditions do vaguely intrigue Eloise, so she'd like to learn more about them someday, being a curious woman who'll always search for more knowledge.
Eloise is completely devoted to studying, to further better her mind. In her opinion, everyone should pursue it, making it baffling to her that not everyone does. While she knows how to interact in dignity and grace, she rarely finds reason to use mindless curtsies and polite nothings; her mind is a much better tool at making others take notice than a dance. Eloise can also come across as being very rude sometimes, being incredibly blunt, brutally honest, and very frank in how she speaks; she's not afraid to call someone's bluff or deal a verbal lashing.
While she's rather intelligent, Eloise often finds herself jumping to conclusions. If she's given a problem to solve, while she can deduce very well, she will usually pounce on what she sees is her answer before checking all other alternatives. Being logically-driven, Eloise finds mastering some social situations difficult, but most are rather too mind-numbing to invest much effort. It's a much better use of one's time to read a book than talk to someone, in her opinion. Additionally, she finds most men unworthy of her time, seeing them as very coarse and simple.

HISTORY:
Eloise was born into a Holder family, second daughter and fifth child of eight of loving couple Edmund and Violet. While Anthony, her eldest brother, was expected to take Hold one day, Eloise and Daphne, her older sister, were expected to wed at a later date, to forge ties to other Holder families. But Eloise wanted nothing of it, being bartered into marriage like a runner at market. While Daphne seemed content to walk that path, Eloise wanted something more; she would make a name for herself and stand out, rejecting what life was set before her and forge her own path. From a young age, Eloise aimed to sharpen her mind by pursuing knowledge delving into books and observing Crafters practicing in her Hold. Granted, she wasn't permitted or able to take a Craft herself, but she still liked to watch.
But life was still unfulfilling, even though she had her studies to keep her occupied and her continued learning going as planned. There was something more she needed, something more she wanted...but what was it? That something more appeared as a dragon from Fort Weyr, coming on Search and happening upon Eloise on a stroll alongside her dear friend, Penelope. Eloise was quick to accept, but requested time to deliberate; plans had to be made, after all. Eloise went to relay what had happened to her family, but it didn't take long for her to decide to accept Search. It was a new opportunity to learn even more about her world. How could she refuse such a chance? And to say no would be as dishonorable to herself as it would be to her family. So she packed her things, said her goodbyes, and returned to give her answer; she would depart that day for Fort.
