FULL APPEARANCE:
Z'osh is a strapping young man, and really has quite the stereotypical build one would expect from a Smith. He is heavily musculed from his turns at working the forge, and his already dark skin darkened even more from the flames and heat. He has a towering figure, standing at 6'6", but it can cause him trouble in smaller or cramped spaces.
His skin tone is a warm chocolate brown, with eyes that match. He keeps his head shaved all the time out of habit, as burning hair is not the most pleasant scent, but if you do catch him with the rare stubble, or even rarer beginnings of a beard, his hair is black as night.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
On first glance, Z'osh seems like the strong and silent type. Its an impression he prefers to present, though the reality is only partially true. While he is strong, both mentally and physically, he isn't that silent in the end. He prefers to remain quiet upon first meeting someone to get a good impression of them, but he warms up quickly to just about every man. Woman are hardly worth his time, even those in positions of power. In fact, he especially despises those women who are in fields he feels they aren't suited for. Female Smithcrafters are the worst in his mind and he spurns any at his rank or lower. He is also rather vocal about his personal beliefs and will not hesitate to share his opinions. Z'osh works to avoid associating with those whose dragons he knows comes from a non-Gold mothers when he can. Despite them still being normal dragons, they were lesser, flawed in mind.
Z'osh can be a good leader, and has finally had a chance to prove himself as Wingleader. He doesn't have aspirations to be a Weyrleader though, especially while Tuckal is Weyrwoman. He is very much against non-bronzeriding Weyrleaders, and any dragonrider that aspires above what Z'osh thinks their station should be.
He tends to be very hands on when learning new things, having never been much of one for book learning. While he does know how to read, Z'osh does really learn best by seeing and doing, approaching most things with a trial and error and stubborn mentality which keeps him from giving up when things go wrong.
Z'osh is someone whose good to rely on in a pinch. He's quick off the mark and thinks fast on his feet. He's got a talent for adjusting plans on the fly and making things work no matter what's getting thrown at him.
This is not a man who deals well with sitting still for long periods of time. He likes to be up and doing things, so finds idleness hard to swallow. This leads to him being quite the fidgeter when he doesn't have anything occupying his time.

HISTORY:
TW - Misgendering and Transphobia
Z'osh was born Zellosh to a couple of minor holders in Telgar. He was a bright lad and even from a young age liked to get his hands on things and tinker with them. It wasn't much of a surprise that he asked to become a smithcrafter when he was old enough to apprentice. His parents agreed and he was sent to the Hall.
He had so much fun learning about smithing. It was very hands on instead of book learning, so he was able to do pretty well. He was on the road to Journeyman and hopefully Master.
Apparently life had another destiny in mind, as it was a few months after his 20th turnday that a dragon from Fort was at the hall for business. Getting some sort of commission or something, he wasn't exactly sure. What did surprise him was when the dragon started showing interest in him. He had been around dragons in the past, but none had really paid him any mind. After the rider had concluded his business with the Smiths, he approached Z'osh and told him his dragon said he had the potential to be a rider, and a Gold clutch was on the Sands. One of Z'osh's friends urged him to go and at least try. He could always come back if he didn't Impress.
His friends all chipped in and got him a Firelizard egg as a present, which hatched into his Gold Dalia.
So Z'osh agreed and decided to go to Fort as a Candidate. The rider told him he still had a few turns to stand, if he wanted to. Z'osh wasn't sure if he wanted to be away that long, but he figured he'd at least give one or two clutches a chance.
Turns out he didn't have to wait very long at all, as when the clutch already on the Sands hatched, he found himself Impressing to a pale Bronze. He was told his name was Diyarth. Once the bond of Impression was formed, he knew he couldn't go back now.
Life in the Weyr was vastly different from the Hold, but Z'osh fell in with a like minded crowd and found his friends. The timing of his arrival was interesting as it let him witness many major events that changed the face of Pern. He saw the first Garnet firelizards, the first female bronzeriders and the first Garnet dragons. All three instances were ridiculous, and he was very vocal in his opposition of them.
He was there when Golre attacked Fort and he joined in. While Z'osh came out unscathed, Diyarth has scars from fighting other dragons. After the final fight, he was offered a position at High Reaches, but declined. He didn't want to be a part of a Weyr that wasn't being led by a Queen and her Bronze mate. Like a proper Weyr should.

When Tuckal impressed the Gold, Z'osh was quite vocal about his disapproval. The Queen picked a male. That was way worse than the Bronze picking a female. The dragon was still a gold, so he grudgingly worked under the freak even if he didn't want to. end TW
When a Green laid a clutch, Z'osh about had a conniption. That was just not how things were done at all. He struggled to cope with this, though having like minded friends who felt the same did make it easier. It was made even worse when those Garnets started clutching too.
He was grounded from Thread injuries and then caught the plague, so he missed out on events for the next turn or so, then not too long after he recovered, Diyarth got grounded for quite some time with a major injury of his own in a bad threadfall in winter 2764, leaving them out of commission for even longer. It was while they were grounded that Diyarth encouraged him to get another Firelizard egg and thus he acquired Blue Slick.
Z'osh wasn't sure how he felt when Ista came and took over. He liked that Tuckal was deposed, but it took another weyr to do it. It ended up not lasting as less than a turn later Tuckal was back in power.
A Blue rising, a brutally violent gold flight and a black white all happened, and Z'osh was convinced it was all due to how the Weyr had fallen out of more traditional values. He joined with his compatriots as the talks for a return to Tradition began to gain steam. In fact, he was recently placed in charge of the Daylight wing when the Traditionalists of the Weyr started a push towards their goal by placing a Bronzerider in the Wingleader position, as it should be.
