FULL APPEARANCE: Neme is slender, but with wiry muscle, as would befit a rider during a pass. She wears her brown hair long, despite the fact that it was not especially practical. It is straight, silky, and thick, and she prides herself on it. Her eyes are a deep blue in color, with a striking, sharp quality about them. She has a rounded, button-like nose and soft cheeks, both of which tend to flush her otherwise unremarkable, tanned white skin, when embarrassed. She stands around 5'8" in height.
Neme likes the color blue, preferring to wear both powder blues and teals. She is quite fashionable and enjoys wearing gather-like clothing made from practical materials when possible, or at least adding pretty accents. It is, frankly, a tragedy that she didn't think to bring her wardrobe with her.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Although the last year has mellowed her, somewhat, Neme remains a bitter and resentful person. She is often angry and quick to lash out, holding grudges over perceived slights for ages. Although she gets angry often, she can act sugary sweet--an entirely too-obvious fake act--when she wants to, and often tries to do so to get a rise out of those she dislikes, while still being able to claim she was innocent, rather than an instigator. Despite this, she is not very sharp, tending to be straightforward in her thinking and unable to see nuances.
Despite being arrogant and full of herself, Neme thinks the world is out to get her. She has a victim complex, thinking that she is the best and anyone who offends her is just jealous, and trying to sabotage her. She's haughty and moody, with a tendency to truly believe she's better than everyone else. She's vain and superficial to boot, focused on her own appearances.
However, she has mellowed out some--largely around processing the feeling of regret. She feels a little bad, recognizing that she went too far. She feels conflicted, but refuses to swallow her pride. Still, Neme is firmly in denial about several things, including her conflicting feelings about Zhenya. Clearly, she just hates the woman, and clearly, she just feels somewhat guilty about it...and nothing more. She denies responsibility, denies her role in negative results, and so on.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
-Uninvolved dragonrider parents
-Several half-siblings
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: (optional)
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
HISTORY: Born in Fall of 1303, Neme was raised in the creche, as her dragonrider parents were quite busy. She didn't know either of them well, having seen them both infrequently, if at all. Despite this, she had several half-siblings in the creche. Due to her domineering, bossy attitude as a child, she was unpleasant to play with. She didn't make strong connections with any of her half-siblings or peers, more concerned with herself than with them or the overall play scenario.
At 15, she became a candidate, and at 16, she Impressed to a lovely green. Unfortunately--or fortunately?--the most insufferable candidate had Impressed alongside her. Zhenya, rider of blue Kraskath, was terrible and bad. Neme couldn't admit it, but she was starting to form feelings for the young woman. If there was one person she hated almost as much as Zhenya, however, it was Zhenya's weyrmate. Unlike Zhenya, however, Kol'ya was considered beneath her. Not worth her time or energy, so she mostly ignored his presence. Totally normal to hate your rival-and-not-crush's weyrmate, right?
Still, Neme could tolerate Zhenya...until the other woman recieved recognition from their wingleader due to actions in threadfall. Neme, in her mind, should have gotten that recognition. It should have been her! And what did she get? Nothing! What did she always get? Nothing! No appreciation, no recognition, nothing for her hard work and dedication! Her rage boiled over, and at this point, she decided to try and make Zhenya's life as miserable as possible. No more, would she be a helpless victim (in her eyes) to Zhenya's terrible ways. Neme would never admit to being jealous, instead channeling this into hatred and disdain.
By 1339, no one remembered the recognition, minor as it was, but Neme. Both women were 36 at the time, Neme certainly old enough to know better. As one of the many annoyances she pushed on Zhenya, Neme decided to muddy up some threadfall coordinates on purpose. She handed these off to Zhenya, insisting that the Wingleader gave them. She hadn't thought through what might happen if Zhenya followed them, but if she had, she'd have told herself she didn't care. When Zhenya betweened during threadfall and didn't emerge, she was horrified. At first, due to no keening, Zhenya was simply assumed missing. As time went on, however, it was clear that something more sinister had happened.
For a turn, Neme witnessed the repercussions of her actions. Zhenya's weyrmate and children, devastated. Tears, so many tears. It kept her up at night, though of course, she didn't tell a soul it was her fault. Where had she sent Zhenya? Was it all a cruel joke, or had she sent Zhenya to her death? Had Zhenya emerged in the wilderness, injured and left to bleed out, or had Zhenya simply never emerged from between? By the time the turn had passed, in 1340, Neme had had enough. She packed up some things--medical supplies, food, and a warm coat--and betweened to the coordinates that she'd burned into her mind on that fateful day. She found herself aware of the risks, but unable to care. She had to know. And if she'd done something unforgivable...she had to atone, somehow. But if this was all a joke, and Zhenya was fine, well...then she'd blame Zhenya for it, maybe, if she could.
