FULL APPEARANCE: Rakishly handsome is the first appliation many tend to give to Zirkander. He is slim and wirey, the perfect build to ride his Blue. His dull brown hair is choppy and flyaway, the bang flopping over his dark green eyes. Zirkander's generous mouth is rarely without a smirk or smoulder. He is, frankly, rarely seen outside of riding leathers, and has multiple sets in various shades of brown.

Zirkander can be a bit cocky and has been accused of thinking he's Faranth's gift to Pern. He comes across as ne'er-do-well type, but he has a keen eye for the bigger picture and is quite the strategist. He loves to be in the sky and will take any opportunity to fly that he can.
Zirkander has wicked sense of humor. He thinks he is a master of wit, sarcasm, and irony, and will never miss an opportunity to make a sharp comment or snide remark. He finds amusement in the absurd. His irreverent and carefree personality are a welcome distraction in times of stress, and his laid-back approach to life hides a sharp mind behind it.
He is highly ambitious and fiercely loyal to his crew, which would make him a prime candidate for a leading position, if he didn't find himself at a crossroads with nearly any authority figure who has to deal with him. Zirkander just has a deep-seated disdain for authority. He thinks he knows best and woe be it unto those who disagree.
Although Zirkander is often perceived as a playboy and a ladies' man, underneath the surface, there is a deep sense of loneliness and vulnerability. He struggles with his feelings of inadequacy in relationships, and while he is charming, he struggles to open up and thus is not actually as practiced in the art of lady wooing as people tend to think he is.

HISTORY: Zirkander was born to two riders in Telgar. He felt like his life was all planned out for him and truely, it was. He went to the creche like most weyrbrats, and though his mother was loving and attentive enough to visit often, his father was too busy galavanting off on various "adventures" of his own design to pay much attention to his boy.
Zirkander had a bit of an attitude problem and nearly flunked out (or even did so) of the chance to Stand for more than one clutch in his Candidate years. But at least he Stood at the clutch it mattered for, the one that brought Bhravasaruth into the world.
He was around 20 when he Impressed, and he shaped up enough to graduate Weyrlinghood with no issues. His time as a rider was fulfilling, as he graduated right around the time Thread started to fall again. He loved flying Bhravasaruth against Pern's ancient nemesis. The pair were quite lucky too coming out nearly unscathed every time, Bhravasaruth, of course, claimed it was all his doing.
Zirkander spent the next 20 turns living life. He fought Thread, survived a plague, even found love in the form of Sardelle and Jaxith when Bhravasaruth Chased Jaxith.
Recently, he heard how Fort has suffered a bad Threadfall and he felt like even a little help from a competent rider would go far for a weyr in trouble. So he put in for a transfer, and talked Sardelle into coming with him. Thus, he came to Fort.
