"And if they ever ask about me, tell them I was more than just a great set of boobs. I was also an incredible pair of legs. And tell them... tell them that I never turned down a friend. I... never turned down a stranger for that matter. And tell them... tell them that when all is said and done, I only ask that people remember me by two simple words.
Any two, as long as they're simple." -Elvira (Elvira: Mistress of the Dark)

FULL APPEARANCE:
Elvira is on the taller side of average and has a slim build, aside from her ample chest. She has very pale skin, often made a shade or two paler by the ample makeup she insists on wearing in public. She wears most of her hair up, but keeps enough flowing down the back and sides of her neck to hide the burn scars there. She does have ample burn scars from the war and fighting thread across her back, arms, and legs.
She wears black as much as possible, and if black isn't available, she wears the darkest shade she can find. While off duty, she prefers long, tight fitting dresses to show off her figure. She also prefers to wear clothes that show off her cleavage (if you've got them, flaunt 'em!). Aside from showing her chest off, she tends to wear clothing that covers most of her body, hiding her scars from view.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Elvira is a person who's managed to keep her sense of humor, despite all the tragedy and suffering she's seen in her life. She's witty and prone to making corny jokes or one-liners in conversation. She loves all things tragic and macabre, and loves to present herself as an expert in the matter. She loves being the center of attention and feeling important.
She's progressive, and believes in a "if it isn't hurting anyone, why not let them be" sort of mentality. She doesn't hate traditionalists on principle, but if they're jerks they will forever be on her list. Elvira is petty, and not above taking revenge on people who wrong her in the form of minor pranks and spreading of misinformation.
Ultimately, Elvira is a selfish person, and will do absolutely anything to get her way. Throw a tantrum, cry crocodile tears, attempt blackmail, very little is below her.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Father - Rider
Mother - Rider
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None right now (but would like one)
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
HISTORY:
Elivra was born to a pair of riders, and spent her childhood in the creche. Her parents were not at all present in her life. She got along well with the other children, though had a fascination with tragic stories and the macabre which made her a bit of an oddball.
From a young age, she enjoyed the performances of Harpers, particularly those who acted. When she was 10, she became an apprentice Harper at the Harper Hall. She loved her studies and threw herself into them wholeheartedly. She memorized as many stories and songs as she could, as she wanted to focus her efforts into becoming an actor amongst the Harpers.
She excelled at her craft, and graduated to Journeyman level in her early 20s. She focused her studies on tales of the mysterious and tragic variety, and even developed a series of performances featuring stories of the gory and macabre. From ballads of bloody battles to epics about strange disappearances and happenings, if it was mysterious or unsettling, Elvira loved it and learned it. Though she would have been content with dedicating her life wholeheartedly to the craft, the ravages of war were not so kind to her. Engrossed in war and needing more riders, Elivra was Searched at the age of 21, and left her beloved Harper Hall to pursue candidacy at Fort Hold.
Just as she was about to age out of candidacy, at age 25, she impressed at the last hatching she was eligible to stand for. She impressed upon Green Algonquith, which was quite a mouthful, so she's taken to calling her "Gonk" for short.
Elvira and Gonk fought for Fort during the war, and saw many close calls. The closest of which involved a particularly nasty fight with a Bronze and his rider. They made it out of the fight victorious, but Gonk's left front leg was beyond saving, and had to be amputated.
While Gonk was recovering and becoming rehabilitated after the amputation of her leg, Elvira rediscovered her love of stories, recounting and performing a wide variety of stories and songs to keep the spirits of her bonded up during recovery. Gonk particularly enjoyed tragedies, as being better off than the characters in them made her feel better about her own situation, which reignited Elvira's own love of the genre. It was during this time that Elvira decided to re-embrace her love of storytelling full time and dress the part to boot.
After several seasons of recovery, Gonk and Elvira were able to return to the skies and fight for Fort once again. They continued to do so for years until the war was over, and peace finally fell upon Pern.
Since then, the pair have served the weyr fairly dutifully. Elvira still longs for the life of a Harper, and will skimp on her duties as a rider when she's able to in order to pursue the craft further. She manages to do just enough to keep her from getting into trouble with leadership for not pulling her weight, as she doesn't want to get stuck with extra chores or duties that would take further time away from her Harper studies.
Since the end of the war and return of Thread, life has been a bit easier for the pair, and Elvira has had a few opportunities to revive her show of strange and tragic tales, and will take any opportunity to act that is thrown her way. She continues to live this enjoyable and somewhat peaceful life, even though part of her is always craving something bigger and better.
