Haru is a shorter than average young woman. She has a thin body that she often tries to cover up by wearing larger sized clothes. She is especially fond of sweaters, often wearing them unless it's too hot to. Her curly auburn hair is just a little big above her shoulders. She often has a friendly smile on her face and usually has a warm look in her eyes.

Haru tends to be a very reserved individual. She tends to keep to herself and doesn't often speak to others. She seems to just prefer to be alone. A reason behind is due to the fact she finds it incredibly hard to trust anyone. It takes a long time for someone to gain her trust. When she befriends someone, it's clear to tell she is a very kindhearted person. She will go out of her way to cheer someone up if they need it. She is also very formal when speaking to others, speaking politely and referring to them as someone ranked higher than her. This is even done towards her fellow riders. She believes in showing everyone respect and treating people how you want to be treated. However, she can also be a pushover. It is very easy for those in higher positions or her friends to convince her to do something, even if she disagrees with it. It can even get to the point Rosaceaeth will have to interfere as Haru won't be able to say no.
She is very fond of plants and, if she had not been searched and impressed, would likely already be a journeyman farmcrafter. She tends to greatly enjoy flying, remarking that it makes her feel free, and that she feels at one with Rosaceaeth. She also seems to quite enjoy fighting Thread. It's almost a thrill to her as they fight against Thread to defend people who are unable to defend themselves. However, because of this, she can leave herself open for injuries as a result of Thread.

Haru's father had decided to wait a long time before having a child, wanting to become a master vintercrafter. His wife did not oppose and, shortly after he achieved his goal, he found out his wife was pregnant.
Haru was born in 2750 and was an only child, due to her mother dying when she was somewhat young. She seemed to be an incredibly shy person even as a child, often keeping to herself and distancing herself from other children. Something she did enjoy, though, was plant life. She could spend every minute of the day in wildlife, a wide smile on her face. While her father was a vintercrafter, she had no interest in taking that up and seemed more interested in caring and treating plants.
While she did not really need formal training, her father thought, as farming was important to PERN, he wanted to encourage her. As soon as she was able to, she was allowed to apprentice to a farmcrafter to learn the trade. Every time she came home, she would excitedly tell her father what she learned that day and he always had a smile on his face as she spoke.
It continued like this until Haru was around sixteen. A searchrider from Igen Weyr had been traveling and had spotted her as she was coming home from her apprenticeship. She had thought Haru would make to be a good candidate and mentioned it to her. She didn't know what to think and honestly, she would have been happy to just stay an apprentice. However, she agreed she would speak to her father about it.
Her father was beyond amazed, in all honesty. He couldn't believe that his only child could become a dragonrider. Even if Haru didn't know if this was what she wanted, her father continue to encourage her, telling her he would be so proud of her. Eventually, due to wanting to make him happy, she decided to become a candidate, traveling to Igen Weyr.
To say the weyr was a bit of a culture shock was an understatement. She was nervous, but decided to stick with it. After all, she wanted to make her father proud!
She was a diligent studier, wanting to make sure when she was prepared. Shortly after the new turn started in 2768, there was a hatching at Igen Weyr. The Threadfall had not been as dangerous to the weyr for most years and the weyr was excited for the eggs to hatch. One of these eggs was a large green dragon who, almost immediately, booked it to Haru. She kept commenting on how long she had been waiting to meet her and commenting that the other was so brave to attend the hatching. It honestly made Haru flustered.
The dragon, Rosaceaeth, was a good friend to Haru. She did not really befriend anyone from her weyrling class and the two had a close bond. For three years, two of which being weyrling years, they lived in Igen Weyr. However, Haru felt an itch. She wanted to go to another weyr, as she still did not feel too comfortable in Igen Weyr. Plus, her father had decided to move to Fort Weyr, as an old friend of his lived there.
Shortly before Tuckal and Serapheth were placed under house arrest, the two arrived at Fort and they were honestly taken by surprise when the incident happened. However, the senior weyrleader told everyone it was fine.
There wasn't a reason to worry.
