B'lak
"Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the
world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside,
inside them they’ve all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing
worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe."
- Neil Gaiman

FULL APPEARANCE:
As far as looks go, B'lak is... a little misleading. He has a face that makes him appear younger than he is, and tends to dress in looser shirts that hide his build. As a child he was small and scrawny, but since adulthood and becoming a rider, he has filled out--if only a little. He's built with wiry muscle, more lean than bulk, so he still looks rather scrawny at first glance, but thanks to training and constant work he is much stronger than he appears. He likes to dress in darker-shaded clothing. He keeps his blond hair cut short, and his eyes are bright blue. Surprisingly, he doesn't have any noticeable scars.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: B'lak is a sweet and caring person, and also rather talkative. Although he is insecure and has low self-esteem, he has no problem with meeting people, introducing himself to new faces easily with a relaxed and friendly manner. He is also clumsy and a bit awkward, tending to panic in embarrassing situations. Despite his own insecurities, he seems to have no issue in poking fun at others in a good-natured sort of way. As long as they aren't offended or upset by it, of course. He would prefer not to push a sensitive issue for someone, knowing full well what it is like to be legitimately bullied.
B'lak likes to share his knowledge with others, though isn't obtuse about it. He strongly believes that any pursuit is worth being proud of. He is also incredibly protective, especially of his younger twin sister. Unfortunately, he does view himself as emotionally weak, and is easily brought to tears under stress or emotion, but is much stronger and braver than he gives himself credit for. He would, without hesitation, willingly put himself at risk for someone he is particularly close to, without regard to his own well-being, and has done so on more than one occasion for his sibling.
It takes a lot of mental preparation for him to fight in each Threadfall, and then some relaxation time following for his own mental well-being. He prefers to spend this time with Kinnirath or his sibling (preferably both).
HISTORY
FAMILY: Mother, Father - Deceased
Fraternal Twin Sister - Alive
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Cothold in Fort Territory
HISTORY:
B'lak was born a handful of minutes before his sister, making him, technically, the older between the two. Growing up in the small cothold beholden to Fort, their parents loved both of their children wholly and unconditionally, giving them both ample opportunity to succeed in their own way. As handlers of one of the Cothold's Watch-Whers, which their family had been for a few generations, they were excited to have two children to bond whers to when they matured. However, only B'lak seemed to draw the wher's attention, creating the implication that he would be the one to inherit the "family wher" when their parents passed.
Viewing himself as inferior to his sister, B'lak tried to close himself off from the wher and declared he did not want to pursue the family wish, though he would still have much encouragement from the entire family to do as he wished. His parents didn't push him to do something he didn't want to do, though they were saddened to hear he didn't wish to take up wherhandling.
The Turn of 2761 was a time of massive tragedy for Fort territory, it seemed. Golre declared war on the nearby Weyr and was later killed when launching a full-scale attack. A new dragon colour appears to the world, an immense shock and bad omen to many. What hit B'lak the hardest, however, was losing his parents. Threadfall in late fall of the year saw the handler pair off to assist with the aftermath, news of Thread that had taken root near the cothold--only for a sinkhole caused by said burrows to collapse beneath them, taking both parents and their wher with it. B'lak was devastated by the news of their loss.
A clutch would see Searchriders out two seasons later, and B'lak would be Searched alongside his sibling and taken to the Weyr. Reasonably rattled after hearing about the previous Hatching where the Gold hatchling killed a candidate, it was to his great surprise that he Impressed to his Garnet Kinnirath. Although he wasn't frail, Weyrling training was tough for him, and their first Threadfall was severe (and mildly traumatic for B'lak)--though both rider and dragon escaped miraculously unscathed.
Between violent Hatchings, attempted kidnappings, eggs vanishing into oblivion or appearing from nowhere (he deeply worries for the day Kinnirath might clutch) and now the tenuous peace between High Reaches and Fort evaporating... Really, B'lak just wished for peace and quiet.
Maybe he should move to Semaca.
