FULL APPEARANCE: Nes is relatively tall, standing at 6'4". She's not the tallest person on Pern, sure, but she's certainly large for a feminine-presenting individual. Similarly, she has a muscular build, stocky and solid in form. Her eyes, a soft hazel, rest behind a pair of spectacles. Her vision isn't horrible, but she does struggle with reading and other close-up tasks. Her skin is a warm, dark shade, with hair just a few shades deeper. Her hair is curly, and she rarely feels the need to wrestle it into something manageable. However, she does tend to wear ribbons--in her hair, around her neck, on her fingers. It helps her dragon remember, after all, and she's all about that.
The most notable thing about Nes is her clothing style. She doesn't like throwing things out, be it clothing or scraps of cloth, and often patches up her outfits. She doesn't care if the material, color, or even pattern are wrong. Or garish! She doesn't care. She also carries a few pouches attached to her belt, which contain a great wealth of useless junk, "just in case" she needs it. She generally prefers practical clothing, something she can move around in without it getting in the way.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Nes is intelligent, with a strong memory for facts and knowledge. She enjoys sharing random information at any time, and can be very passionate about her interests. She's intuitive and trusts her gut. Unfortunately, she also has no impulse control, often acting on instinct rather than utilizing common sense or critical thinking skills. She doesn't look before she leaps, and is definitely a thrillseeker. Overall, Nes is very high risk, high reward, often disregarding things like safety or accuracy and making careless mistakes.
Because she is so impulsive, Nes lacks a verbal filter. Often, she inadvertently offends others because she doesn't think before she speaks. She's a chatterbox who rarely thinks about the words coming out of her mouth. She is energetic and excitable, with an active mindset that dislikes feeling idle. She has a poor attention span, often dropping projects halfway through because something more interesting caught her eye. Nes is confident in her abilities and skills, even when she shouldn't be. Because she assumes she knows best, she often tries to meddle in other people's lives and problems. However, her style of helping is of a practical and concrete problem solver, albeit a creative one, rather than a shoulder to cry on or a charismatic mediator.
When Nes makes a mistake, she doesn't seem to feel bad about it. She's easygoing, perhaps to a fault, and willing to accept that what will be, will be--even if she has control over the negative outcome that occurred. Did someone get hurt because of her actions? Well, nothing to be done about it, that's just how it is, so why worry about the past? She considers herself efficient, but often this means rushing through different tasks. She hates waste, whether of time or material objects, and tends to reuse or repair anything she can. She tends to jury-rig and fix things using household objects or nontraditional items, such as holding something together with an old belt or propping something up with a fork. She collects a lot of junk that could be useful, someday, mostly because she doesn't want to get rid of something that could potentially serve a purpose.
Nes does have a rebellious side, largely related to the traditional dragon hierarchy. Would she have the same problem with it if she rode a metallic? Probably not. But as it is, she asks questions. Why, for example, was Z'osh able to come to power so easily in a supposedly liberal Weyr? Why do they still have the structure of a traditional Weyr at all? And, most importantly, why is S'bor--a BRONZERIDER--leading a blue-rider led wing? And S'bor as a person? Forsk that dimglow. It isn't that she has any ambitions for herself, but rather, a passion for what she considers fair. She is fiercely loyal--to her weyr, to her wing, and to blueriders everywhere.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
-Dragonrider parents (green & blue)
-Probably some half-siblings but she's not really interested in familial bonds
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: (optional)
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
HISTORY: Nesaeyia was born in 2746 from flightlust. Her mother was aware of who her father was, and as a result, Nesaeyia was aware of both. However, neither parent was involved and Nes was raised exclusively in the creche. Nes didn't really care where she'd come from or who her parents were, and had no interest in maintaining any kind of relationship with her parents.
She was old enough to remember the war, which had gone on her entire life, with it only ending when she was 9. It relieved her, really. She wanted to be a rider, but wasn't a fan of the idea of war. However, Golre of High Reaches soon became a threat to rider's everywhere, to the point where blue and greenriders were fleeing the weyr. At the very least, Nes knew that Golre was contained within her weyr.
Over the course of her youth, Nes picked up many random skills. She was interested in fixing things and repairing things in particular. If it was broken, she wanted to lovingly recraft it. From fixing ceramic bowls to patching clothing to modifying furniture to repairing boots, she loved it...even if her methods were often a bit unorthodox. Even if the results often looked a bit hodge-podge or needed another repair shortly after, at times. Crafts in general fascinated her. Unfortunately, Nes's interest in things and skills meant that she would be a jack of all trades and a master of none. She never picked up a craft, largely because she couldn't decide.
2761 was an eventful year. Garnet dragons--so cool!--appeared, which sparked interest in Nes. High Reaches attacked Fort, after tensions had built over some time, though luckily there seemed to be few Fortian casualties. Golre was killed. And then, finally, in fall of that turn, Nes became a candidate. Nes saved up for a firelizard egg, which surprisingly hatched into a garnet. She was thrilled about getting a flit of this fascinating new color.
Nes expected to Impress immediately, but instant Impression was not in the cards. Most of her candidacy was uneventful, at least by her standards, despite things occurring like Serapheth fighting a dragon on the hatching sands and Benden attacks and Nornth and the like. But you know. Normal stuff. Z'osh winning a weyrleader flight irked her, however. He was so stuffy and traditional! She stood for the clutch sired by his bronze, of course, and was surprised--but still pleased--when she Impressed. Her blue had caused some destruction on the sands...before seeming to forget this entirely.
Over the course of her Weyrlinghood, Z'osh assumed control over the Weyr entirely. Nes was beyond angry. She'd disliked traditional ways before Impression, but now she was a bluerider, and like shards would she allow someone to treat her and Gascoigth as inferior. Finally, Z'osh was overthrown.
She would have considered moving to Semaca, if not for her desire to 'fix' Fort. It was her home, and she wanted to make sure it was the best version of itself it could be, out of a mixture of loyalty and her fix-it attitude. As an adult, Nes went into a wing traditionally led by a bluerider...despite the fact that a bronzerider would be in charge of it. She followed S'bor's orders, but it bothered her to no end that he was in charge of her wing.
