FULL APPEARANCE:
C'aim is a gruff-looking individual, standing at the average height for Pernese men, with a sturdy build and naturally tanned skin. He has no scars on his face and only a scattering of them on his arms and legs, but one quite terrible on his throat. This scar goes from his throat to over his shoulder, where Thread landed on him just at an angle. It is this scar, a threadscore, which has all but taken away his voice.
His eyes are simple brown, his hair a darker brown and longer, falling to his shoulders. C'aim's hair is straight, without any curl to it, and thick but soft; it seems he takes good care of it. Clothing-wise, C'aim dresses purely practically, without any care for colours or looks as long as they don't clash. That said, he opts for undyed garments on most occasions, leading to wearing a lot of beige and tan of base-made leathers and cloth.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
At first glance, C'aim appears to be a rough man with a resting angry face. The scar on his throat has rendered him nearly mute, a fact which he finds frustrating as it is too painful for him to speak anymore. He often uses his dragon as a liason rather than trying to write down what he wants to say--it's much faster and easier for him. But he isn't bitter; while he somewhat regrets the loss of his ability to speak, he still finds happiness in many aspects of his life and enjoys the company of his fellows--human or rider.
C'aim places the safety of others above his reputation, especially that of those he views as friends or family. But he lashes out at those who have wronged him in some way, as it is a held belief that they will go on to harm others and that it is up to him to stop it--to protect his life and those of the people he cares about most. He holds grudges and will seek out revenge against someone who has wronged him, from getting them in trouble to social sabotage, he's not above getting his hands dirty if he thinks the situation calls for it. This said, he means well and doesn't realize how destructive his actions can be.

BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
HISTORY:
Born to a rider and his weyrmate, C'aim was raised with his sister for a time in the creche before his parents would transfer to Igen, bringing their children with them. It was here that he met Inu'art and befriended his future brother-in-law, learning that he had also recently transferred from Benden territory. Through a Weyr upbringing, C'aim was educated and well-cared-for, though didn't have the best relationship with his parents, especially after having been uprooted and brought to a place he knew nothing about. Luckily, he got along well with his sister and his new friend, and the trio made a promise to became Candidates as soon as each of them were old enough.
His sister and friend both Impressed before he did, as they were older than he was, and when he was fifteen, his sister twenty-one, his nephew was born. C'aim stood unsuccessfully for Hatchings for many long turns, nearly aging out entirely, before a tiny dragonet with a red hide approached him at what he knew would probably be his final hatching. Garnets were new dragons, having only just recently begun appearing--but C'aim didn't find himself caring at all. He was much too distracted by his new dragon asking him, "What makes you worthy of a bond with me?"
After the fact, he was slightly ashamed of bonding to not only a female dragon but to a mutation, but by the time he graduated from Weyrlinghood he had come to adore his dragon and her nuances. Over this time, the pair became nigh-inseparable, and luckily Igen, the Weyr at which he had Impressed, was much more open to the idea of unusual dragons.
During a particularly bad Threadfall, C'aim chose to sacrifice his own body to protect Anheruth, leaning to catch Thread that would have otherwise scored his dragon. The result of this was massive scarring along his throat and shoulder and near total loss of his voice. To this day it causes great pain to speak and he relies on writing and his dragon to communicate.
C'aim was proud of his nephew N'owe for Impressing, but not so proud of the news from High Reaches of their actions. When finally choosing to transfer to another Weyr to help, he chose Fort, fully aware that they were recently recovering from a coup in which riders like him would have been disallowed from doing... much of anything.
