D’ain often tends to wear clothing in reds and blacks with gold accents; and he almost always has on his favourite orange scarf. His clothing style is usually pretty practical, even if it is oftentimes a bit flashy. A pair of fingerless gloves are frequently included in his wardrobe—mostly because he thinks they make him look cool.
He has long straight brown hair bound up in a ponytail with whatever-that-thingy-is, as well as long curtain bangs framing his oval-shaped face. He is light-skinned, with expressive eyes of grey. His face has a very noble-looking cast to it.
D’ain also has a confident-looking presence; though he does have a few subtle ‘tells’ that belies this confidence, such as short fingernails that have been chewed to the quick, for example, or an smile/expression that sometimes seems a little too bright and/or practiced.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
D’ain seems very outwardly confident, but in reality, he’s just capable of faking confidence really well; he pretty much has the ‘fake it til you make it!’ mindset. In fact, he is secretly quite the anxious mess of a human being underneath the mask, full of a thousand worries and anxious thoughts/questions (what if they don’t like me???? What if I don’t Impress???? What if I DO, and my dragon gets hurt????? Etc etc).
Sometimes this anxiety, as well as D’ain’s desire to fit in with the ‘cool’ people, will drive him into making silly decisions and/or putting himself into stupid situations.
D’ain is kinda like a cat; he will make a mistake, but then pretends he totally meant to do it on purpose all along. Will likely come across a bit snarky and somewhat contrarian as a result. An side effect of D’ain faking confidence will also lead to him managing to sound 100% confident talking about something he only feels like 10% sure about.. Which means he’ll sometimes end up giving you bad advice.
He will be fiercely loyal to those he calls friend; almost to the point of being willing enough to jump in front of a thrown dagger intended for that friend. Same for his family, and for some siblings he’s particularly close to. And for his new dragon, Renouth!

- Weyrfolk parents and other relatives

BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
HISTORY:
Born Dallisainte in Turn 2756 to weyrfolk parents, he lived a very normal weyrbrat life at Fort Weyr.
He grew up around his many siblings and relatives in the Weyr, but Dallisainte also spent a fair bit of time playing with the crèche kids anyways; the lad content to run about underfoot with them, almost-perpetually getting in the way of the other residents. What else was there to do, after all, as a cheeky little Weyr kid?
As he grew older, Dallisainte became more and more anxious, as he became more aware of the way the world worked, as well as his somewhat-lowly status as a part of his weyrfolk family. Not to mention, all the huge things that has happened over the Turns! Plague striking Pern when he was eight, and then there was all the dragon-hatching violence and poisonings and kidnappings and all sort of crazy things… Fort has had quite a Time; a fact of which an increasingly anxious Dallisainte was very much aware of by the time he reached his teenage Turns. Maybe if he pretended he was one of the ‘cooler’ people, maybe he’d somehow avoid becoming a future victim of such things?? (Flawed teenage reasoning, to be sure, but reasoning nonetheless.)
Dallisainte enters candidacy at 15, though he wrestled with doubts of whether he’d Impress or not; given all the events that had taken place, and also the fact he was born from a line of weyrfolk. He’d never had the privilege of being Searched, and as such, the young lad just had absolutely no idea if he EVEN had whatever it was it took for a dragon to deem him dragonrider material. He did know how to work hard, though, and had learnt by now how to put up a confident front to mask his anxiety.
His first clutch was Temporaeth’s, which occurred during the whole coup thing of Turn 2771, with Z’osh abruptly coming into power (and later losing it). This was.. rather interesting. He does not Impress. Everything seemed to calm down for a while, and eventually he Stood for his first gold clutch, dubbed the ‘Vessels’ (Serapheth x Jitteboth clutch). He is again passed over. Which is fine! Right? Right?
A Turn later, Dallisainte Stands again, this time for the clutch of the last clutch’s gold, Ustreilith. And clearly, the saying ‘the third time is the charm’ was true, for he finally Impresses to Brown Renouth at this hatching! (Last to hatch of 15; Ustreilith x Eseath clutch).
As a result, Dallisainte elides his name to D’ain, and he rather euphorically leaves the Sands as a brand new weyrling with his newly-bonded dragon. Hooray!
