FULL APPEARANCE: Often sporting a frightening glare, Kiyoomi doesn’t look like the most friendly person- and he likes that just fine. However, that’s not the only unsettling thing about him. While not everyone reacts that way to it, Kiyoomi has a condition called joint hypermobility syndrome, which can have him joints bending in ways that simply aren’t possible in normal people. The bendiness can be useful at times, however, it also leaves him prone to dislocated joints, especially his wrists and shoulders. It can cause some degree of discomfort, and he often wears bandages around some of the worse off joints to prevent them from moving around more than they should. He’s also adapted a pair of leather arm guards for more wrist support to deal with the joint issues there.
However, beyond his expression and his bendy joints, Kiyoomi is actually a very handsome young man. Thick black curls adorn his head, longer in the front and shorter in the back. His face itself is not delicate per se, but it has a nice, clean shape to it, strong lines and not much roundness to be had. His eyes are a normal shade of dark brown, relatively expressive. Above his right eyebrow he bears two beauty marks, lined up in a strangely linear way. He prefers brighter clothes despite his darker personality, and can often be found in a sunny yellow color of clothing.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: To those who have never met him before, the best way to describe Kiyoomi is cold. The outer shell of his persona, the side of himself he most commonly shows to strangers, is a rather rude person. He’s not necessarily always trying to be an ass, but comes across that way to his general blunt attitude and darker outlooks on life. Kiyoomi is generally rather uncaring in the face of stranger’s opinions, people who he isn’t close to have no say in how he lives his life after all. If he wanted an opinion he’d ask for it, manners be damned.
He does, however, have quite the sense of humour when one gets to know him. He’s good at cracking dark, totally inappropriate for children jokes, the kind that tend to make his cousin laugh so hard he chokes. He’s not the most physically affectionate person, but shows his care in other ways, by remembering little things that are important to his loved ones, or presenting them with the things they like when he has the time and money to make it work.
Perhaps the two exceptions to those rules are his cousin and Chiyamath, both of whom he is completely comfortable around and will get physically affectionate with so long as they initiate any hugs or contact first.

HISTORY: Born in a minor hold, Kiyoomi didn’t grow up with a father, only a mother, who did her absolute best to raise him by herself. His father had been a dragonrider, passing through. Their relationship had meant to be a fling, really, so he never knew he had a son out there. It was just the two of them for the first few years of Kiyoomi’s life, but when his mother’s sister and her husband were involved in an accident, it was Kiyoomi’s mother who chose to take on the care of their son.
Kiyoomi, normally rather uninterested in other people, bonded with his cousin instantly. The same age, they did almost everything together. It didn’t matter if they were playing games, or doing whatever little chores two five year olds could help with (usually just handing things to Kiyoomi’s mother) or even sleeping. For the first couple years Komori was with them, until they were about 9, Kiyoomi and his cousin preferred to stay in the same bed.
They made quite the pairing, attached at the hip as they were. A lot of the hold kids didn’t like playing with them once they realized how competitive the cousins were, and just how well they worked together. Quiet, tall Kiyoomi, and friendlier, more average Komori. Since they spent most of their time together, they knew each other incredibly well, and didn’t need words to guess what the other was thinking. Neither of them really had a specific craft in mind once they were old enough to apprentice, but both ended up trying a few things before settling in beastcraft. When they were 15, Kiyoomi was scouted by a searchdragon, though Komori was not. Kiyoomi wanted to go, but didn’t want to leave his cousin behind. Eventually they reached the compromise of Komori coming along to try his hand at Wher candidacy when he was old enough to qualify, while Kiyoomi would stand as a dragon candidate. They were brought to Telgar Weyr shortly after, where Komori was to apprentice to the beastcrafters there until he could qualify for Wher candidacy.
It took a couple years, but at age 17 Kiyoomi impressed to brown Chiyamath. Chiyamath instantly reminded him of his cousin, even similar in color to the shade of Komori’s hair. Komori was endlessly amused by this fact when he learned of his cousin’s impression, and got along with Chiyamath like a house on fire. Kiyoomi, though he didn’t admit it, was also relatively amused.
His weyrlinghood was relatively smooth sailing, since Kiyoomi was good at working hard, though he was rather blunt and rude at times. He graduated successfully, and stayed that way for a few years. Komori also impressed and graduated wherlinghood during this time. However, a recent threadfall injury that caused some not insignificant damage to Komori’s partner left Komori wanting to escape the memories of it happening, and he ended up choosing to transfer. Kiyoomi, ever loyal to his cousin, who was his closest friend, ended up transferring with him. The pair ended up in Fort, where Chiyamath’s significant size was put to use in the Eclipse Wing.
