L'fy is beyond scrawny, in fact he seems to have absolutely no body fat to speak of. He's deceptively strong, though, as he's good at using body mechanics to make the best use of his power. He's also extremely flexible, and likes showing off his flexibility to entertain kids. He has a young-looking face, and is often mistaken for someone younger than he is. L'fy has a scar under his left eye and a large x-shaped scar on his chest. He is almost always wearing a straw hat, even going so far as to strap it to his head during threadfall. He tends to prefer rough, simple clothing, and likes to wear open shirts and vests with sandals. When winter hits, he can go a little overboard with the warm clothing.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
L'fy is a blend of zero common sense and pure enthusiasm, much to the chagrin of everyone in his younger years. He has a bit of a reputation for being reckless, preferring to jump straight into things without much thought. He's not the type to solve things with cleverness, and would much rather overcome things with brute force and sheer determination. Annoyingly, it hasn't failed him yet, but more because he's too stubborn to know when to give up. He can be very single-minded when he wants something, sometimes to his own detriment. He's extremely idealistic, to the point where it comes across as almost childish. He is charmed and amazed by basic things, but is unphased by interpersonal revelations. He also isn't good at putting together the obvious unless someone else spells it out for him, and even then might forget it if he doesn't think it's important. He can't always tell the difference between his own opinions and facts, and can get annoyed when people disagree.
L'fy an ambitious man, and isn't shy about sharing with anyone who will listen his dream to one day be Weyrleader. Maybe he'll even start his own Weyr - after all, someone did it at Semaca, why can't he? - although he's well aware he'd need to build a following to be able to do that, and a large one at that. And that would take a long time, since L'fy is very particular about the people he chooses to surround himself with. He can't stand cowards, or people who turn their back on their friends no matter what they've done; loyalty is a quality he holds extremely dearly. He also hates the word 'impossible', as it only shows either a lack of imagination, determination, or both. L'fy has an irrational fear of drowning and avoids deep water whenever he can, refusing to go near water at all if he doesn't have someone on hand to watch his back.
L'fy is a foodie and loves meat in particular. He can also be very hard to rouse from sleep, and has to be physically dragged out of bed if threadfall happens unexpectedly. But he is fiercely protective of his friends and will do anything to protect innocents from harm. He only wants to surround himself with the best dragonriders, and would love to have everyone he likes in a wing all his own if wing sizes wouldn't make that impossible. L'fy's impossible dream is to live with all of his friends in one giant weyr, but unfortunately personal weyrs don't come that big.

HISTORY:
CW: Injury, death
Luffy was born at Fort, the child of a pair of riders. Luffy's father left Fort not long after, likely in response to the Interval War, and left Luffy in the care of the creches. Luffy's grandfather, a rider who is still spry despite his age, made a point of staying in the young boy's life. Luffy's father felt too guilty over leaving his son behind to ever reach out directly, but asked for regular updates from the boy's grandfather. Luffy's grandfather pushed the boy harder than other weyrbrats his age, so he was more prepared than most when it came time for him to stand for his candidacy. He grew very close to two other boys in the creche, Ace and Sabo, and they all agreed to become brothers and be dragonriders together.
When Luffy was eight, in an effort to impress a rider and prove that he was brave enough to face thread, Luffy took the knife of a rider he admired - Shanks - and started shadow-fighting with it. When he was caught, he was so startled his grip on the knife slipped and just narrowly missed his eye, leaving him with the scar under his left eye. Not long after, he nearly drowned in the lake, leaving him with an irrational fear of deep water. When Shanks left Fort Weyr to help another Weyr fight thread, he gave Luffy his straw hat, and Luffy promised he'd make Shanks proud by becoming the leader of the Weyr. He started wearing the hat all the time to remind himself of that promise to Shanks.
When he was ten, Sabo and Sabo's weyrfolk mother returned to the hold of her birth. Both were killed on the road there by bandits. Ace and Luffy were devestated, and swore to each other that they'd get stronger, swore to themselves they'd never die, that they'd protect each other and everyone else they cared about so they never had to go through that again. Ace was three turns older than Luffy, and impressed before Luffy was even eligible for candidacy. He transfered away from Fort, curious about what the rest of Pern had to offer and to see how mutated dragons at other Weyrs differed from those at Fort. Luffy and Ace still stay in touch.
In 2761, Luffy impressed to Dioth and became L'fy. It was a tumultuous year, even before his impression, and instilled in Luffy a sense of pride in his Weyr's bravery and triumphs. He was upset he'd missed out on his chance to join in the fighting, to prove himself and test his bravery, but he wasn't sad to see the fighting end. L'fy earned the x-shaped scar on his chest during weyrlinghood, when he was rough-housing with a fellow candidate and their dragon decided they wanted it to stop. L'fy doesn't blame the dragon, fully acknowledging his part in the incident.
L'fy and Dioth had ample opportunity in the following turns to prove themselves. In the fight between Z'osh and his traditionalists vs. Tuckal and the progressives, L'fy sided with the progressive faction, partially because of how stifling staunch traditionalism is, partially out of loyalty to one of his own dragon's siblings. L'fy and Dioth have not had much opportunity for advancement of late, but perhaps with the reshuffling of the wings, things will begin to change for these two.
