FULL APPEARANCE:
If you were to ask someone about Negan's appearance, either his slicked back (get still somehow puffy looking) dark hair, greying beard or near-constant smile would probably be their first answer. Laughter lines embedded in his cheeks and crow's feet in the corners of his eyes from smiling, Negan's face looks distrustfully joyful. His hair and beard are styled as he likes. He will shave on occasions, but he and most others prefer him with the beard than without.
A fan of darker leather clothing and looser, often white shirts underneath them, Negan is very intimidating in his clothing choice. He prefers darker clothing over light, but that doesn't mean that he isn't going to wear a brighter shirt. Darker colors are more intimidating, makes him look like he has more authority, and makes him look badass.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Negan is an acquired taste. He is an overly charismatic, clever, and sometimes charming man. He has a very strong backbone and can take whatever you throw at him. He has a list of curse words the size of the Northern Continent and has no problems using them when he wants to. While he is charismatic, he's charismatic in the rude, crude, and angry sort of way. While this is all very central to who he is as a person, Negan isn't always an annoyance.
Negan has a softer and more caring side that is hidden under layers of gruff and toughness. Not coming to the surface nearly as much as it should, Negan is often seen as only a funny man with a taste for violence. This is not the case, although it is a major chunk of his personality. Years of letdowns and friendships gone wrong have made Negan keep the majority of any of his majorly good traits under lock and key, afraid that something bad will come around and will affect him and that he'll care too much about it.
Negan thinks that he is a good guy, when in reality he plays way more for himself and himself only. When there is a group of people that he has chosen to protect, he will do anything to protect and provide for that group. Willing to steal, lie, murder and cheat people out of their house, homes and lives, Negan is a force to be reckoned with when you choose to be on his opposing side.

Negan has not always been such a sarcastic hardass. When he was a child, he was a darling boy. His mother believed him to be the sweetest boy around. This might not have been true, since to people outside of his family he was a little shit. The traditionalism of High Reaches got on his nerves to no end, things were too old-fashioned and too 'square block in a square hole' for him and he craved any reason to leave. When he was of age, he immediately became a candidate. The threat of being kidnapped hung heavy over his head, but he knew his dragon was going to be strong, powerful, amazing, terrific and any other good adjective. This was true to an extent, as the dragon he had received was a total ass that really clicked with him. Personality wise, Wireth was everything he wanted. The two gossiped about things they hated together, but to others, Wireth was a total jerk and so was Negan. Sadly, he wasn't shiny, nothing gold or bronze, nothing valuable to the tyrannical reign of Golre. Knowing that he'd never have any amount of power under the madman drove him crazy and he knew that he needed to get somewhere that he had a chance of getting the power he thought he deserved.
At one point in time, he had a beautiful and loving wife named Lucille. The two were decently happy and Negan didn't have any sort of urge to be as much of a jackass as he is today. This all came to an end when his wife, unfortunately, died. Many friends he had made after this either double-crossed him or died, and he gave up on most friendships from then after. This led to a long period of time where Negan sweetly (not sweetly) told the world to leave him alone forever.
At some point after Golre's reign at High Reaches, Negan and his dragon, Wireth, called take-backsies on what he said to the world (in part) and transferred over to Fort Weyr. The senior Weyrwoman's gold rose and the flight was increasingly violent. Serapheth chose Wireth over the others due to his increasingly violent nature. Somewhat unsurprisingly, Tuckal forced Sera to pick her darling bronze rider's dragon, Sinanjuth instead. This lead to the assumption that Tuckal valued her relationship over the well-being of the Weyr. Negan was slighted, robbed, how could this happen? Wireth fought and clamored his way to the top and Sera chose him, not Sinan. This created a great rift (in his mind) between the man and the couple. He became distrusting of any form of authority that wasn't his own. Was he going behind the leader's backs and spreading rumors? Of course! Did it benefit him? Of course, greatly.
Bad things began to happen at the Weyr (maybe less so for Negan than for anybody else). After the baby dragons hatched, they were poisoned. Tuckal was attacked by some coward, that really pissed him off. Ista stepped in and declared Negan to be the Weyrleader, as well as making Emma of Gold Maktooth (an Istan rider) in charge of everything. In his new place of authority, something he absolutely loved, Negan investigated the attacks. He immediately blamed the weyrhandlers and garnered a lot of hatred for that decision. Did he truly care though? No. He loved the conflict that was being created. The turmoil gave him more changes to exert his power over those in Fort Weyr.
After arriving back at the Fort, Negan thought that things could do a little better with the current leadership there. Being away for so long in Ista for a 'well deserved' vacation over in Ista brought about some problems. He has been planning an attempt to become Junior whenever Nornth rises. Wireth is strong and fast enough to get farther along than any of those other dragons, at least, that's what Negan has always believed.
