PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
She tends to be blunt when giving opinions and can come across as rude due to her phrasing. She doesn't believe in sugar coating the truth, but she's not always the most tactful in her delivery. She's honest even in the face of her mistakes and will admit fault even if it will get her in trouble. She'd rather face the consequences up front than dig herself a deeper hole. Patience isn't a virtue for her; she hates 'dead time' spent waiting for something to begin and has to fill it with something, reading, doodling, cleaning, whatever. She's good at working independently, but group work is a bit of a struggle for her. If she feels like the task isn't being done 'right', she'll take over to make sure it gets done. She can do well when taking charge, but only if she remembers that there's no i in team and people aren't around to just bark orders at.
While she tends to be loud and in your face, Cress has a more mellow, private side than her public face. She feels as though she has to act tough in order to prove herself to others, but allows herself to 'let loose' so to speak when she's with a small group of people she knows well or if she's alone with Lumiouth. She tells herself she doesn't have to impress anyone, but there's a nagging thought in the back of her mind that she's not good enough. She's slowly learning how to change that mindset and is determined to rid herself of those thoughts completely.

HISTORY:
Cress was born at Telgar Weyr to Sennarei and Croland, youngest of three. Though she was the youngest, she certainly wasn't the quietest. Loud and rambunctious, She managed to make a nuisance of herself, especially to her older siblings, who were often tasked with watching her. She was especially fond of her father and spent what time she could with him. She was especially fascinated with his craft and would loudly proclaim to anyone who would listen that she was going to be a great smith like him. Croland would always chuckle and pat her head, but never once discouraged her. Perhaps in an effort to not hurt his feelings, she never announced so loudly her desire to Impress as well, especially after having watched Reland Impress when she was 8 turns old. He didn't care what she did, as long as she was happy.
Cress eagerly began her formal smith apprenticeship when she was 12 and worked diligently, learning everything she could in the few short turns before she began to stand for Telgar's clutches at 15. She was hoping for a quick Impression, but that wasn't in the cards. She stood for many turns, watching with increased frustration as her peers Impressed without her, and even candidates who began standing after her walked away with a partner of her own. She began to wonder if she wasn't good enough for a dragon, even though she was told over and over that the dragon meant for her hadn't come around yet. Despite these niggling thoughts, she continued to stand, she transferring to different Weyrs to stand for their clutches, but to no avail.
She transferred to Fort once again for Nornth's clutch despite the rumors swirling about the Weyr following the flight. Rumors wouldn't keep her away, not when there were dragons who needed a rider. Each hatchling that hatched seemed hesitant, almost wary, likely owing to the lack of a touching. There was a Garnet that took a bite at a candidate, but for the most part they seemed to be Impressing alright, even the Garnet that had fl. That was, until The Lost Son egg broke and a handsome brown staggered out and onto the sands. She didn't notice the lack of his right foreleg so much as how scared he looked, and he acted on it, biting Kepret before stumbling into the other candidates.
Once the shock faded, she realized that if someone didn't stop him, more than just Kepret were going to get hurt. She lunged forward when the Brown passed and managed to grab a hold of him, arms wrapped tight around the flailing hatchling as she attempted to calm him. What she didn't expect was for the Brown to Impress to her.
Once fed and rested, she and Lumiouth were ready to take Weyrling lessons head on. They worked hard, supporting each other in the places where they each lacked. Cress did her best to establish a working camaraderie with her fellow Weyrlings too. She hadn't known them as long as some of them had known each other, but she didn't want to act the outsider. Though a bit awkward at first, she made friends among her classmates and about the Weyr. With the way things were going, staying at Fort after graduation was a real possibility.
