Driscoll
"Possum. Big, freaky, lookin’ bitch. Since when did they change it to opossum? When I was comin’ up it was just possum. Opossum makes it sound like he’s irish or something. Why do they gotta go changing everything?"

Despite his age, Driscoll still doesn't have a wrinkle on his face. Although, his hairline is receding pretty quickly nowadays, and he is a little self-conscious about it. He keeps his hair fairly short because of that. He keeps his beard pretty short too, usually just stubble. Dris has always been a scrawny little guy, very bony, skinny, and not very tall. His main identifying features are a handful of scars on his face that he got from a few stupid fights he got when he was younger, nothing too major, but they're still visible.
His fashion sense spans from atrocious teenager to father of four depending on how comfy he wants his clothes to be that day. Dris usually walks around with a slouch and his hands in his pockets.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Driscoll at a first glance is your typical laid-back jokester. He's impulsive and does very stupid things without thinking, and is overall not very book-smart. He's always been more street-smart and can make his way around with common sense. If you give him a bit and show him how to do something, he will be able to replicate it... but won't be able to understand it or how it works. All he wants to do is impress other people, and he'd put in as much work as it took to do that. Dris tries his best to be a nice guy. He'll stand up for himself if someone tries to be mean to him and doesn't want to let anybody take advantage of his laid-back nature. He really wants to be a dad and is great with kids.
Dris has always been unable to put his full trust into anybody. It is almost an irrational fear now due to the way he always expects people to not care about him or think that he's not enough for them. It has impacted his ability to keep friends as he is never fully loyal to them. Despite this, his outgoing, extroverted nature makes him try to seek comfort in other people's company when he is troubled or sad- not in the romantic way, only in the friendly way. He tries to put any and everything that upsets him on the back burner in his mind and then consumes his thoughts by doing anything else. Maybe it's dragonrider work, or going out and doing things with other people, anything at all so that he doesn't have to think about whatever ails his mind.

HISTORY:
Driscoll was born the eldest sibling of two. For a long time, it was just him and his parents, and he was doted on accordingly. But when his younger brother, Jacob, was born, everything seemed to change. Jacob immediately became the favorite child since the time he could walk. Everything seemed to come naturally to him, and nothing seemed to come naturally to Dris. It disheartened him pretty quickly. He always tried to do things to catch his parents' attention or make them proud, but it never seemed to work out the way he planned it to.
He always managed to make his aunt, Ginny, proud though. The two of them were thick as thieves. She was a Woodsmith and had planned to get him into Woodsmithing when he was old enough and large enough to do so. She thought he was good at it from having him give her an extra set of hands here and there around her workspace. But, it never came to be. Ginny found herself incredibly ill, and within a year or two, she had passed on. Dris spent most of his time finding work around the Hold to do after that, trying to push how sad he was over Ginny's death to the back of his mind.
And then the next thing he knew, he was searched and taken to Telgar. And then he kept getting passed over. To say it was getting annoying would be an understatement. He wanted to drop out of candidacy, he only had one more year before aging out! What was the point? ...Then his lil' ol' baby brother Jacob showed up. Apparently, he was searched too. How great! Another thing for him to outclass him at. What were the odds? Incredibly great, it seemed, as Jacob Impressed to a bronze at his first hatching. It infuriated Dris enough to stay in candidacy for his last year. Soon after, Driscoll finally Impressed to a brown named Lobsevith.
Weyrlinghood seemed to pass quickly, thank Faranth. He stayed in Telgar for a good decade or so. He had a handful of relationships with a couple suitors that he hoped would last, but they never ended up working out in his favor. He was always too paranoid or too clingy or too distant. After some time, he figured out that the common denominator was him, and stopped trying to date for a while.
After a while, Driscoll got bored with Telgar, and decided that he needed a change of pace. It wasn't like any other weyr really appealed to him, he just wanted to get away. Well... really, he wanted to get away from Jacob and his weyrmate and their picture-perfect two riders with a kid family. Yuck. Why couldn't he have that? Just rub it in his face, why don't you? After boiling down his choices, Driscoll transferred over to Fort Weyr.
Since his transfer, Driscoll has found himself with a new canine companion, Sam. He's way more than glad that he missed out on all the traditionalist drama with that bronzerider, Z'osh, and is hoping that nothing too majorly bad happens for the next little while. He just wants to relax for a bit and is hoping that Fort Weyr will give him that chance.
