But, I'm too tired to have a pissing contest."

FULL APPEARANCE:
Aries is a tall, well-built man. His arms were strong from years of fishing, now these muscles are maintained by exercise and training. He keeps his brown hair short and his beard well-trimmed so that he doesn't feel like he's walking around looking a mess. His grin is less of a smile and more of a smirk.
He doesn't own any fancier clothes and has no plans to ever do so. He wears clothes that are easy to work in, and that's enough for him. There are a lot of blue shirts in his wardrobe as it's his favorite color. You'd be hard-pressed to see him walking around without his favorite leather jacket.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Aries is an acquired taste. He is bitter and cynical, abrasive- but not aggressive. He's very chill, and likes to relax when there's no work to be had. He's funny though, in a way, but outside of his dry wit and sarcasm, it's not in the way some would hope. He creates these pointless rivalries with other people (without telling them) that have no merit to them for his own amusement, and he likes to get under their skin if they 'bother him'. Poking fun at them just so happens to be his method of choice. He will often try to prank them, or make jokes at their expense. In short, his annoyingness is selective and he actively goes out of his way to annoy a select few people for no reason other than it brings him joy.
Despite his goofy attitude, he is a hard worker. He will always get the job done. If you set him to work in the morning, he will work until the job is done or the sun sets. Outside of his little rivalries, he tries to stay out of arguments. He knows from experience that he can get irritated with others quickly, and tries his best to avoid conversations he doesn't want to have with people he doesn't want to see. He doesn't have the energy to deal with people who want to argue for real, so he doesn't. He just walks away or let's the other get what they want out of their system and then leaves.
After several years, Aries is still trying to figure out his stance on mutations and garnets. On one hand, they are just born that way. No one can stop that, and they don't deserve On the other, they don't really fit into the pre-established heirarchy and that could have unexpected, currently unnoticed consequences for Pern. He leans toward not being a fan but not really doing anything about it. He has political aspirations driven by him feeling that he could do better than those that came before him.

HISTORY:
[TW child death]
Arthur was the firstborn son of two fishermen at Fort Sea Hold. Before his parents set him to work on the boats, he often ran around with his two younger brothers doing dumb kid things. He ended up picking up his practically permanent nickname, Aries, after a particularly stupid prank involving releasing one of the local farmer's sheep and running with them around town. He was caught, of course, and had to round up all of them on his own and bring them back to the farmer. His parents had him working on the boats daily soon after.
A local girl named Lurena started picking up odd jobs around town, including a more permanent position working with Aries' family over the Summer months on the boats. The two hit it off pretty quickly and he soon convinced her to work with them year-round just so he could see her more. Their friendship quickly blossomed into a loving relationship.
Soon after came their first and only child, a boy named Luther. He was born prematurely and his poor immune system was fighting a constant uphill battle. After a year, his body had had enough of fighting, and he passed away.
Instead of supporting each other when they were both clearly suffering from their loss, Luther's passing drove Aries and Lurena apart. Aries became more irritable and Lurena became inconsolable. He would get mad at the smallest of things, and she would get sad out of nowhere even if she had just been laughing the second before. Often, one would get upset with the other, and then they would fall into a shouting match that would never be resolved. They split only a year after Luther had passed.
Lurena kept her job with Aries' family instead of working with another fishing family, much to Aries' dismay. His parents didn't want to add fuel to the fire and fire her, so she got to stick around. The job he had learned to love was now being ruined with bad memories every time she showed her face at work. It only took a few months before he made a rash decision and left the hold entirely, leaving for Fort Weyr.
He didn't know what to do once he was there. He wasn't close to the sea, he was only good at fishing, and he was beginning to regret moving. He picked up odd jobs around the weyr for the first month he was there, but he wanted more. He was still under the age limit for candidacy, being around the end of his 23rd turn, and joined with the hopes he'd manage to get a dragon in the few years he'd be able to stand. He supposed that if he aged out he could go and buy a wher, but that wasn't nearly as favorable to him.
When he was 25, he managed to Impress a dragon. To a bronze, no less. What an honor! Vereigth was a large presence in his mind that he had a hard time adjusting to. But, after months of doing his best to make his new situation work, he came to enjoy the bronze's company. Sure, some of their ideas of 'perfection' were different, but they could agree on some of the basics. Neither of them was much a fan of mutation colors, including garnets. As a holdborn, Aries was exposed to mutations much later than weyrborn people and was still unsure of their implications on Pern as a whole. He didn't agree with wiping them off the face of the planet though.
In the 11 turns that have passed since impressing Vereigth, Aries has done his best to maintain a relatively low profile of a life. The bronzepair have been doing their best to work hard during and outside of Threadfall. When Nornth had her bloody maiden, Aries kept Vereigth from following her wishes. When Z'osh revolted, Aries kept them out of it. Both situations were too hasty, especially the revolt. He didn't want to jump in on either side of that and fall flat on his ass if they failed, so he just watched it happen and watched it pass the Weyr by. It did, however, spark a little political fire under him. He would try his damnedest to get into one of the positions of power at Fort Weyr, figuring that he would run it better than whoever came before him.
