FULL APPEARANCE: Kouichi is usually seen with a messy amount of short black hair covering to the back of his neck. However, there is a rare occasion where he will have it up in a ponytail. When not in his working clothes (a white jacket, white shirt and black pants), he will always be seen in a completely black outfit. His clothes are usually baggy on him as well due to his petite body.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: An often quiet individual, Kouichi will go out of his way to help out those in need. In fact, that was one of his main motivations of becoming a journeyman. He would be able to help people all over the world with his knowledge of healing. However, he carries his positive emotions on his sleeves, often seen smiling and being friendly to others. However, he will hide any sort of pain and negative emotions he has, he will burst into tears if he feels too emotionally stressed and he's sure he's alone. He does not feel right to burden those with his emotions.

Kouichi's parents divorced when he was very young, only around four. His father had married another woman shortly afterwards and left their birthplace with his brother and his new wife.
He didn't understand why his father would just leave him like that. He didn't support their mother either and it made him sad. His mother was so weak and tired from raising him already. She was not able to work as often to gather enough food for the two of them.
Now, she had to raise him alone.
That seemed to build a pressure inside of Kouichi that began to manifest in him often skipping meals. It wasn't like he wasn't hungry. He felt the idea of eating would only cause more and more stress to his mother, so he thought.. if he didn't eat, they could save money on food.
However, this became worse and worse until the age of fourteen. He collapsed and almost died if it was not for a journeyman who helped him recover. This had inspired Kouichi and he decided, as soon as he could begin training as a healer, he would study to become a journeyman and give the money he made to his mother. She even traveled with him to Southern Boll.
Kouichi had actually just graduated when some searchers found him and asked for him to come with them. He was sad to leave his mother, but he did have to go where they needed him to be. From that, he left Southern Boll and headed to Fort Weyr.

- Early Summer 2771, Threadfall: Kouichi goes to help one of the injured wher pairs, but when he kneels on the still very-hot ground to help, is burned on his right knee.
