While he stands at an impressive height of 7' tall, Valencio's build is lithe, but still strong. Though his skin is a warm tan from Turns outdoors, he has blonde hair that falls in waves to his jaw and his eyes are as blue as Fort's Lake. Valencio usually wears dark leathers, a modest white undershirt, and supple knee-length boots while off-duty; while Thread falls, he dons all his protective gear.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Valencio is an extremely friendly and personable individual. Very easygoing, he'll rarely hold a poor opinion of someone else, unless they do something massive to warrant it. But once he does decide that someone is bad news, he goes to great lengths to keep himself and those he loves away from them. Being firstborn, Valencio views himself as one of his family's protectors, alongside his father. but his view and subsequent behavior extends to those Valencio considers family as well as those to whom he's related by blood. What Valencio calls "protection," others might call "smothering." While that's not Valencio's intention, there are times that his need to care for those he loves simply grows too great and gets out of hand.

If there are things in disarray, Valencio can hardly contain his urge to straighten everything up. Regardless of what items are in question or who owns them, he'll rarely focus until everything is neat and tidy once more, which particularly extends to his personal quarters, a space he now shares with his weyrmate. Valencio is unsure exactly why he feels as he does about disorder, but it's a trait firmly ingrained within him. If there's a mess that Valencio somehow had a hand in, he can become quite distraught. Additionally, Valencio has a bit of a recklessness streak. Seeing as life is an adventure, it pays to be daring on occasion. but Valencio is often too daring. Should someone challenge him to something as a test of bravery or whatnot, it's a rare thing for him to refuse.

It's quite clear that Valencio loves whers and absolutely adores his own Ciosk. There's nothing wrong with dragons...but he simply wasn't meant to soar so high and fight Thread firsthand. In truth, he finds dragons mildly intimidating in comparison to whers, but he will rarely admit as much so as not to offend others. Valencio is very much a down-to-earth fellow; under his nature as a chatterbox and a neat freak, he thoroughly enjoys simple comforts of hearth and home. There's nothing better than spending time among his family his loved ones and he finds himself missing these comforts if kept away for too long. Always glad to share what he knows, it can be hard to get him to be quiet. Likewise, Valencio loves to learn new things, especially if it can make him a better wherhandler.

HISTORY
FAMILY:
Cior of Brown Ciorsk - wherhandler - father - living - open tie!
Valentine - weyrfolk - mother - living - open tie!
Siblings/Half-Siblings - multiple, all younger - open tie(s)!
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Gallifrey of Garnet Gallisk
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
HISTORY:
Firstborn to squadrider Cior and weyrfolk Valentine, Valencio was both loved and cherished. Well, by his mother. Cior was always a little distant toward his son, his duties as a wherhandler being a looming priority. So he left rearing Valencio primarily to Valentine, but she did her job well. Cior's love for his son seemed...muted and hard to see, but no matter how aloof his father was, growing up in company of a huge wrinkled brown like Ciorsk left Valencio a strong affection for whers, no matter how glorious Fort's dragons were above.

As time went on, Valencio matured from a boy to a young man, but his love of whers didn't waver for a second. As his seventeenth Turnday dawned, it found Valencio volunteering for whercandidacy. Sure, dragons seemed interesting, but he'd decided long ago that what he wanted to be was a wherhandler, like his father. But no egg was ever rolled to him by a wher mother, though he attended countless clutches. Though he was disheartened for a time, he remembered that there was an alternative: he could purchase a wher egg, provided he had enough marks.

Saving up his marks seemed to take an eternity, but Valencio gathered what funds he needed to purchase a wher egg. At eighteen Turns, requested transport to Southern Boll to purchase. After haggling for a brief spell, Valencio walked away carrying a small wher egg in a bucket of warm sand, a white bloom emblazoned across its shell. It didn't take long at all for his egg to begin hatching, allowing a small white wherlet to peer at their new surroundings in his quiet barrack; a welcome place for his new wher to hatch. Valencio blooded his white, after which they introduced themselves as Ciosk.

Valencio entered wherling classes proudly, seeing his wher like they were a gift from Faranth herself. Valencio was full of such joy every day; he considered himself Pern's luckiest man to be bonded to such a wonderful white like Ciosk. Though an accident early in his training left Valencio bedridden in Fort's Infirmary, it hardly brought him down, rather regarding it as one of his life's greatest moments, in addition to bonding to his Ciosk. But why would someone consider getting hurt and restricted to bedrest a good thing?

It was where Valencio met Gallifrey. Striking up conversation was easy, but it seemed they couldn't stop; Valencio wouldn't want to stop either. As Gallifrey inquired as to Valencio's knots, he was glad and proud to share that he wore a white wherling's knots. Seeing as there was no one inclined to stop him, Valencio shared everything about his adventures, putting much detail into how he ended up Ciosk's bonded.

After recovering from his injuries, Valencio took up his wherlinghood once more. News found him that Gallifrey too had gathered up his marks and purchased a wher egg, bonding to garnet Gallisk and joining his wherling class; Valencio was utterly overjoyed! Together, they learned and advanced as wherlings. Graduation was close at hand for Valencio. As he joined Fort's ranks as a fully fledged wherhandler, Valencio got to watch as Gallifrey too completed his wherling training and graduated.

To both celebrate graduating and to treat his dearest friend, Valencio acquired a firelizard egg and gifted it to Gallifrey, which yielded a bright bronze for Gallifrey, who was dubbed Apollo, much to Valencio's delight. It was shortly after graduation that Valencio's feelings for Gallifrey began to change. Things seemed to simply evolve between them. Except from his Ciosk, Gallifrey was Valencio's closest friend, but he late began to occupy a special place in Valencio's heart. Intense affection would fill Valencio at every thought of Gallifrey. Once he could bear it no longer, he spoke to Gallifrey about how he felt, but found that Gallifrey felt as he did for him.

After that conversation (flustered pauses and all), Valencio and Gallifrey were weyrmates as a cresting sun bathed Fort in light. Into today, Valencio is utterly ecstatic, ready to face his future, knowing he has his beloved Gallifrey and Ciosk alongside him.

BASICS

NAME: Ciosk
BIRTHDATE: Late Fall 2763
AGE: 13 as of 2776

APPEARANCE
LENGTH: 11 ft.
HEIGHT: 4 ft.
COLOR: White
HEX CODE: #dbdeee
FULL APPEARANCE:
Ciosk is rather small by white standards. Rather willowy in all dimensions, they possess an odd ethereal grace, evident in every movement they make. In regard to their hide, Ciosk is nothing too flashy; in fact, they seem meant to blend in and efface themselves. Ciosk is primarily a dark silver color, while classic white dots and streaks their hide in an enchanting pattern. Ciosk's headknobs sport two spots each, pointing toward an oval on their head. A large spot sits cutely on their snout, while more white paints down their face from their eyes like tears. Like intricate bracelets or other adornments, broad bands of white grace their silver hide, at their front legs and down their tail.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Ciosk is a quiet white, choosing to observe before taking action. While it's rare for them to speak, it's a good idea to heed them if they do, for they possess an odd wisdom beyond their Turns. Reserved and perhaps a touch distant, they aren't one for engaging others, but it isn't that they're shy. In fact, Ciosk seems to radiate a quiet confidence, rather than seeming skittish or timid. While they aren't overt or bold, they are dependable and dutiful. Should a job need to be done, Ciosk is there to see it through. Additionally, they are extremely attentive to others' emotions, being a very empathetic wher.

To their handler, Ciosk is nothing but a friend. It's their job to take care of Valencio and keep him from getting into trouble, but it's also their job to stay close as his steadfast companion. Valencio won't ever find himself forsaken in his hour of need, for Ciosk will be there, ready to face everything in store for them. While they may be rather mellow, they still appreciate those close to them enjoy themselves; seeing as they've such a mild attitude, Ciosk is content to watch from far off. So long as a job is done and done right, they're glad to let others take credit and be happy. Happiness is such a fleeting thing, but it gives a small measure of comfort, so they'll do everything they can to bring a little bit of joy to those who need it most.

Ciosk uses and seems to prefer they/them/theirs pronouns, but doesn't correct or mind she/her/hers pronouns.

VOICE: Ciosk rarely speaks, but their voice is so soft it's almost inaudible, but gentle; they sound feminine.
