Generally he tends to smile unless he is in a deep concentration, usually when reading. Jushiro dresses respectably when in public, but prefers loose, comfortable clothing when in the privacy of his weyr.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Jushiro is an honorable man who treats everyone with respect regardless of age or status. This, combined with his easygoing nature, makes him easy to approach for help or advice by anyone. He hates to be the bearer of bad news, however, and will often go out of his way to avoid saying anything negative. He avoids conflict like the plague and tends to give in to others in order to avoid confrontation. His moral compass points true north and he believes in his morals, but has a hard time standing up for them when pressed.
In addition to kindness, Jushiro loves to teach and has seemingly endless patience, even for little ones. He's more than happy to impart his wisdom to anyone who asks for it, wanting to share the joy that learning brought him with others. He eagerly embraces the brighter side of life and the joy the little things can bring. There's not much that can bring him down, even when ill. He loves to write in his spare time, both prose and poetry, both of which he happily shares with anyone who will listen. He has a habit of giving gifts out of the blue while trying to be friendly, but doesn't realize this may be unwelcome to some.

HISTORY:
From a young age, Jushiro has had much responsibility put on his shoulders. As the eldest of eight children, he was often tasked with caring for his younger siblings. He was fond of them all and thus had no issue with looking after them on top of his chores and other responsibilities. This was difficult at times; as a child he was sick frequently and spent much time in bed where he amused himself by making up stories to tell his siblings. Fortunately he grew out of his frequent illnesses as he aged, but is still prone to illness more than the average person.
When he wasn't ill, Jushiro was kept busy learning how to tend the crops and care for the animals in addition to helping care for his family, leaving little time for much else. He didn't mind farming, really, but there were times when he'd wonder what it would be like to pursue a craft or live at the Weyr. These were idle fantasies, but as he and his siblings grew older and needed him less, he thought more seriously about what he truly wanted for his future.
He got the chance to see when he was nineteen; a rare visit from a rider resulted in him being Searched. His attachment to his family left him reluctant to leave, but if he didn't go then, would he have another chance? Before his resolve could waver, he accepted the invitation to stand at Telgar.
While Jushiro didn't Impress immediately, he eagerly threw himself into his lessons, reading and writing especially. He was eager to pursue literacy and put much effort into these lessons in particular. He would read in every spare moment and wrote down the stories he had told his siblings in their childhood, making sure to send them copies in case they could read them some day. Physical lessons and chores were a bit more difficult for him; despite having grown up on a farm, he wasn't quite as strong as some of the others and lagged behind. His affable nature made it easy to make friends, and it was with their help that he was able to keep up with the other candidates.
It would be three turns before his turn at Impression came at a hatching that seemed like any other. The touching had gone well and now the hatching was as well, dragons popping out of eggs left and right to find their partners. When one of the larger eggs began to hatch and spit out a Brown, there were positive voices all around. That is, until the hatchling stood and stretched, making it obvious that the dragon lacked wings. He didn't seem injured, his shoulders were simply bare out of the egg. Unconcerned with the murmurings in the Stands, the Brown padded toward the candidates, taking only a brief spell to check them all over before he made his choice.
Jushiro, The dragon- no, Kotowarith, said, Do not fret for me. I am not in pain, and I do not miss my wings. How could I miss what I never had? I am fine, and you will be, too. Now come, I am hungry, and you must feed me.
Letting out the breath he hadn't realized he was holding, Jushiro's face broke into a wide smile. "Of course my dear. We'll have you fed in no time, don't you worry about that."
Weyrlinghood was a challenging time for both dragon and rider. There was so much for Jushiro to learn about caring for Kotowarith, and then there were modified lessons when the others took flight. It was expected that they join the ground crew, thus emphasis was put on rooting out burrows and flaming from the ground. They couldn't help but feel left out when the rest of their class was flying, but they chose to focus on what they could do so they could do it well. Upon graduation they did indeed join the ground crew where they put their best foot forward to be as much of an asset as possible.
Things were mostly quiet for many Turns, save for the occasional injury during Threadfall. As he aged, Jushiro found his tolerance for the cold of Telgar waning. He was getting ill more often and for longer periods of time, and his joints would ache during a particularly cold snap. In the interest of his health, he requested a transfer to Fort Weyr, hoping the warmer climate would be more agreeable to his constitution. As they couldn't travel between, Jushiro and Kotowarith accompanied a trading caravan to their new home with the hope of good things ahead.
