Ryoko is a tall, imposing presence. She towers over a good portion of PERN's population, and has enough muscle to avoid looking like a scrawny tree. She has long, slightly wavy black hair that reaches to her mid back, and piercing ice blue eyes. Intimidating as she is, she manages to be somewhat of a gentle giant. She's surprisingly delicate with how she handles objects, though it may have something to do with her long, slender fingers.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Ryoko is judgmental and self important. Anyone that doesn't live up to her expectations is below her, no exceptions. She expects everyone to live up to her ideals, and if they don't then they're a lost cause. Her political views are traditional, and exasperated by the fact that she impressed a gold wher. Garnets have no place in the color hierarchy, and she privately dislikes them. Colors should stay in their designates roles, and greens have no business clutching when there are the proper, ideal golds to do so.
Despite this, she cares deeply for the weyr she has a part in protecting. Her standards might be high, but part of the reason they exist is to keep the weyr functioning like it should. She might not be weyrlady, but she considers her role to be extremely important and treats it as such. She's content to let oddities exist, so long as they don't get in her way. Those that downplay her role will be met with cold, blatant animosity.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Luvenia (Mother)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: A Minor hold near Fort Weyr
HISTORY:
Ryoko was born to a prideful but distant woman and a father whom she never met. Luvenia is very largely the reason for her ideals as a grown woman. She wasn't neglectful, but she wasn't very motherly to Ryoko either. She learned early on that, to get the most positive attention from her mother, she had to assimilate to her standards. She was to be a proper young lady, and grow up learning that only the best would be accepted. And of course, she did just that.
At 16, she was surprised to be picked up by a searchdragon. Her mother approved, which surprised her just as much. Luvenia had never spoken of admiring riders, but she insisted it was a great honor, and encouraged Ryoko to accept. That was all the convincing she needed, and off she went to Fort Weyr as a candidate.
Several turns of standing for dragon clutches discouraged her. She, personally, had never had ambitions of flying, and was growing impatient with the lack of a suitable match. By 20, she had become a dual candidate in hope of speeding the process along a bit, and by 21 she had decided that her future lay with whers, not dragons. Whers, in her opinion had a job just as important as dragons, with some flexibility in impressions. Though, the rate of wher clutches didn't seem to be in her favor. Luckily, within her 22nd turn, she was able to save up enough to purchase one.
A large egg, of course. She would only have the best. A big, strong partner to help her with her goals. And, as her luck would have it, that egg hatched into a gold. The most ideal partner for her.
Ryosk's ideals didn't quite align with hers, but that was to be expected from a purchased egg. They worked well enough together, and learned how to keep differing opinions to themselves over the course of wherlinghood. Ryoko relaxed somewhat as she aged, and in response Ryosk began to voice her own opinions on things. Though it didn't change her mind much, Ryoko accepted them.
The chaos surrounding the weyr after High Reaches stole Neozeoth's eggs wasn't strange to her. While she didn't much care for garnet eggs, the principle of High Reaches being able to steal them angered her. It didn't help that Ryosk was furious. Eggs were eggs to her, and High Reaches had committed an unforgivable sin. Their stretch of the search was conducted meticulously, and sparked irritation when it yielded no results. But of course, High Reaches had dragons, and they were long gone. Ryoko didn't consider it a failure on her part, just a reason to grow. A reason to perfect her handler skills, and maybe a reason to acquire another partner.
