FULL APPEARANCE: Yuri has long black hair that goes partway down his back. When he is exercising or training, he will often keep his hair back in a ponytail so it doesn't get too much in the way. He has a slim build and is quite agile as well. He, at times, will have a cocky smile on his face.

Yuri is laidback and is a bit playful with people younger than him, or are close friends with him. He will often tease or joke around with them with a smile on his face. Along with this, he tries to help out others in any way that he can. However, he can also be lazy at times. He needs a strong emotional reaction to actually go into action if it's not for thread and he tends to find a way to doze off anywhere. There are even times where he can appear to fall asleep during a conversation with someone he's talking to, though he only does this if he's getting annoyed at the conversation and doesn't like the person he's talking to.
Yuri, however, can be very sarcastic at times. It gets to the point that he is almost always sarcastic, unless around close friends and younger people. It is often to the point he can be disrespectful to those around him and mean at times by what he says. He doesn't seem to care, though. He knows it can hurt others, but that's how he is. He doesn't try to change who he is, so why should anyone else?

Yuri honestly lived a pretty average life. He was born towards the end of the Interval War, with it ending when he was eight years old. His parents were both wherhandlers and always made it clear that Yuri could be a dragonrider or a wherhandler. When they were at battle, he often stayed with his grandfather, who was a blacksmith master. He always seemed to enjoy listening to his grandfather's stories from days he worked and had decided to study as an apprentice smithcrafter. After all, if he didn't become a candidate, or if he did and never impressed, he could easily continue his studies.
When Yuri was young, his grandfather ended up dying. This honestly hurt Yuri a good bit, as he was the closest with his grandfather growing up. It was also during this time he considered becoming a candidate. This did mean Yuri would have to postpone his studies as a smithcrafter, but he always felt he could continue one day. He decided he would become a candidate and continue studying smithcrafting if he aged out, or just didn't want to be a candidate anymore.
Two years before he officially was old enough to become a candidate, Golre had declared High Reaches the peacekeepers and decided she did not want Fort around, at least that's what Yuri thought. She launched two raids against Fort, who had been allies with Ista during the Interval War. The last raid resulted in her death, something Yuri found very fitting for her.
After a year or so living in Ista Weyr once Yuri become a candidate, he decided that he wanted to travel to another weyr. His childhood friend, Flynn, mentiioned wanting to travel to Fort Weyr and Yuri decided it sounded like a good idea and he would follow his friend there.
He arrived shortly after Danse of Gold Macath arrived at Fort. However, that year became incredibly stressful and frustrating for the candidate. It culminated in Benden attacking during the touching of Serapheth's first clutch as the Senior Gold and kidnapping two riders from the weyr. Even though the riders eventually came back, but Yuri felt mentally exhausted from the entire year. He decided he needed a break from Fort, returning home to Ista after the riders returned to Fort. He took a half of a year break from candidacy to focus on himself and continuing studying smithcraft, as he did not know if he wanted to become a dragonrider or a wherhandler. He still did attend the hatchings, though.
It was during this time he would end up impressing at a wher clutch. The wher was a purple-blue color and seemed almost like a canine in personality. As the hatching ended, Yurisk ended up bumping into another wherlet, who took offence. This resulted in Yurisk becoming blind in one eye where he was attacked.
Due to him having impressed, he would end up staying at the weyr for two years and train as a wherhandler. However, he and Flynn kept in touch. As soon as he was able to return, he was happy to see his friend had impressed. However, shortly after he returned, Z'osh had the Senior Gold, Tuckal, placed under house arrest.
That wasn't what he expected to happen at all.
