FULL APPEARANCE:
Elgiibel has short dark brown hair, with a slight wave to it. His hair comes to just under his ears, and curls over into a fringe covering his forehead. Their skin is red-tanned brown with darker brown freckles, and their somewhat oval-shaped face is often adorned with a big slightly crooked grin; sometimes seen with dimples in tow, and otherwise average features. His eyes are ice-blue in colour. Elgiibel is extremely expressive, even when he tries to hide his feelings—it’s quite difficult for him to show a deadpan face when talking about something, though it isn’t impossible.
They are usually found in well made outfits, often of long tunics (both short and long sleeved ones) and pants of some kind tucked into their well-worn & scruffy pair of boots, with a little knife kept belted on by their side. Elgiibel has a self-confident presence; he often almost swaggers a little bit in his stride, and smiles at literally everyone. EVERYONE. Elgiibel likes to acknowledge everyone with a grin or a nod, and generally trying to behave like a real leader would..

If Pern had memes, Elgiibel would be a very meme-able person!
They are extremely easy to read, and wears their heart on their sleeve. Quite adorable even when they’re trying to be intimidating, Elgiibel is often super eager—and almost too excitable—at times. They also frequently fail at trying to keep a secret or hide anything, because it’s written RIGHT THERE all over their face—even when they’re trying to act like they don’t know what you’re talking about!
He wants to be eligible for literally all the things, and in particular wants to be leadership material. The only problem with this? Not only the fact that he is ridiculously easy to read, but that he frequently tends to leave things to the last minute—and thus constantly rushing his work—oftentimes in favour of something far more interesting! Especially when it comes to paperwork. Boooring! Oh, he tries—oh, how he tries—to do the best he can, but simply put, he just RUSHES a tad bit too much from this thing and that for him to ever successfully avoid making mistakes or misspelling words on his first try. In fact, he will 100% be absolutely, comically shocked if he ever manages to get something right the first time! He’ll learn eventually…
When trouble inevitably comes knocking, particularly when Elgiibel ends up in hot water with people (especially those in authority) due to a mistake, they tend to default first to freezing like a deer in the headlights (if Pern had deer and cars, that is), and just does nothing. “This is fine..” Then, depending on situation, their thinking brain kicks into gear and suddenly it’s TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! Which, depending on what the action is, may or may not make the situation worse… oops.
Elgiibel also loves their flit, and thinks all dragons and whers are super duper cool. Therefore.. Dual Candidacy, baby! (Except, he has literally just Impressed at his very first hatching! No more Candidacy now lol)

HISTORY:
Born in the spring of Turn 2755 into a large and loving family, Elgiibel knows nothing of a life before Thread—having been born literally a season or so before its return. The youngster had a fairly uneventful childhood roaming the Fortian lands with his siblings, apart from that one terrible summer when plague struck Pern during his 9th Turn. Fortunately, his family was more-or-less spared, as remote as they were from the densest Holds. At age 13, Elgiibel begins to explore, figuring out who he is as a person. Eventually, he comes out as non-binary; insisting that he also be referred to by his friends and family with they/them pronouns as well as the usual he/him ones.
One day, when a 15 Turns old Elgiibel went out combing the beach with their siblings for shells and cool treasures on a family holiday to the coast, they stumble across a firelizard nest! Which was in the process of hatching! Elgiibel excitedly yells for their other siblings to get over here FAST, or else they’d miss out on bonding to a flit; as the teenager simultaneously searched their pockets for food scraps they could give the surely-hungry hatchlings already emerging from their sandy nest.
Elgiibel found himself lucky enough to impress a little gold; one whose hide was almost white at her feet and underbelly, but seemed to fizz upwards into warm red-orange-yellow colours up her body, so that she at once reminded him of a blazing fire on snow. He was, of course, extremely delighted at his good fortune! Elgiibel named her Fireball Phoenix as he fed her the crumbled remains of his meatroll, then brought the flit home with him.
Two Turns later, Elgiibel is Searched by a Fortian rider right before their 17th Turnday.
They excitedly accepted the chance at Candidacy—looking quite agog over the rider’s gorgeous dragon as they paid their respects—and immediately prepared for departure, his little gold riding on his shoulder. This was so exciting! Elgiibel subsequently goes to Fort Weyr, and gets even more excited upon meeting a few whers; so then it came to pass that upon turning seventeen the next day, Elgiibel promptly opts in to entering Dual Candidacy. Gotta be eligible for all the things, right?!
And so he began to settle in quite happily into his new life as a newly minted (Dual) Candidate of Fort Weyr.
