BASICS

RETIRE INFO: Retire
NAME: L'ru (Lorum, called "Lor" by his embarrassing childhood "friends.")
GENDER: Male, cis
PRONOUNS: he/him/his
ORIENTATION: Bisexual (male lean)

BIRTHDATE: Fall 2747
AGE: 23 as of Early Winter 2770
LOCATION: Fort Weyr
OCCUPATION: Weyrling, Apprentice Scribe (and resident Nerd)
WING: N/A

APPEARANCE
EYES: Deep blue
HAIR: Black and shaggy
HEIGHT AND BUILD: 6'1" and lanky
PLAY-BY: themushroomancer
FULL APPEARANCE: Although he is only an inch or so above average in height, Lorum still manages to have a long and lanky form. He's scrawny, with a narrow bone structure and little muscle. Paired with the comparative length of his limbs, poor Lorum looks gangly and awkward. A mop of black hair covers his head, too long to be orderly, but somehow, neat enough. His eyes are a deep blue, uniform in color, surrounded by short, yet dark, eyelashes. Lorum's eyebrows are thick and wide. Despite his pale skin, Lorum's face has a splattering of prominent freckles. They are his most striking trait; in all else, Lorum is rather plain. Of course, he looks tired--those are some impressive bags under his eyes!--but beyond that, nothing special. He doesn't seem to stand out much, and his slouch only makes it worse. Neat and clean, Lorum's hair is the only thing that seems a bit out of place. Everything else is perfectly orderly, but that hair...it just won't behave! Despite that, he refuses to change the length, and often just gives up on it. He finally got a haircut.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Lorum has a creative mind, one that has a surprising knack for fantasy and fiction. He is drawn towards the strange and interesting--anything different than the status quo--and he'll invent something strange and interesting if he has to! He sees patterns so easily. Things that break the logical pattern are not only pleasant--they are, in his mind, somehow the secret to unlocking the "truth" about the world. Nothing is as simple as it seems. Something lies below the surface, and he will find out what it is. He might end up inventing his own problems, but Lorum is a curious investigator through and through. Naturally, he isn't exactly self-aware, and thinks of himself as a logical, straightforward sort of person. While he can be extremely logical in some regards, and tends towards concrete, practical actions, his imagination often runs away with him. He believes in conspiracy, often finding tenuous links and strange coincidences, believing them to be more than meets the eye. Something that gets him closer to this unknown and nebulous "truth" about how things are really run. Even though he has his beliefs about how he thinks things are, he also knows that there is more to the story, and he's determined to figure it out.

Curiosity mingles with egotism in Lorum, but there is a strange sort of nobility, as well. His desire to find the truth isn't just his lust for knowledge; it's also a desire to expose the negativity to the world, so that corruption can be changed. He has ambitions, in this way--he wants to be listened to, and he wants access to the "truth." Deep down, it's more than just the novelty or curiosity. It's also a desire to make the world right, to keep others safe. He is the type to freeze up in danger, but in any other situation, he tends to be a bit self-sacrificing for the sake of others' well-being. Of course, this doesn't come from being other-focused or anything like that. No, Lorum is too confident, a know-it-all. He feels the NEED to know something others don't. Some secret, some mystery. Something only he can solve. He's obviously better than everyone else--smarter, wiser, and just overall better. Caring about others doesn't mean you aren't the best thing ever, after all. Everyone else is just a little dumb...in that way, they need him. And he's clearly helping!

A studious lad, Lorum takes all of his work to heart. Be it craft, candidacy, or conspiracy--he takes it all very seriously. He doesn't usually consider that other people might have intelligence, as well, but will occasionally consider someone worthy of true respect, rather than vague condescension. He is intelligent, and spends his free time reading, doing puzzles, or...snooping. He might listen in on people's conversations sometimes, if they're in public, hush. Lorum does not usually seem very emotional, and seems almost detached when describing things. Using logical words and "evidence," he can be very persuasive to the gullible, especially because of how confident he is in his beliefs. He portrays facts and logic in his arguments, even if most of it is a bit of a stretch. He does recognize that a specific theory might be wrong, but deep down, he knows that something is wrong, and even if he needs to throw hundreds of ideas at the wall, he'll find the one that sticks. He can be surprisingly passionate about his beliefs.

HISTORY
FAMILY:
-Mother: Riumi
-Father: Elornis
-Brothers: Riunis [+4], Nismir [+3], Niumis [+1]
-Sister: Usimni [-1]
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: lmao no
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Hold
HISTORY: All five children were born during the war; Riumi and Elornis, a loving couple of holdfolk, loved a big family. Wartime might not have been the best time to focus on family, but they were simple folk. They didn't get involved in politics, and remained in their own sphere. They weren't getting any younger, and there was no time like the present. First, Riunis was born. Then Nismir, then Niumis. Lorum came next, followed almost immediately by his baby sister. The older boys--and Usimni, for that matter--were each strong and capable, and throughout their lives, were seen with respect. Lorum, however, was a bit of an odd one out. His family loved him, of course. They were loving and wonderful--but he just never fit in. His curiosity got him into problems, and he was surprisingly reckless when it came to that. One time, he climbed a tree to try to catch a wherry...and fell, breaking his ankle.

He was barely eight when the war ended. Too young to properly understand--he'd known nothing but wartime throughout his life, and had grown up with that. By the time Golre declared High Reaches as the Peacekeepers, however, he'd learned a thing or two. Fascinated by the study of politics and secrets--despite them not concerning him at all--he focused his curiosity on finding out hidden truths and mysteries. First...he'd need the foundation: he'd need general knowledge. Due to his studious traits and fascination with history, politics, and the like, he ended up an apprentice scribe. He didn't start until he was 13 or 14, but once he did, he put everything into his work, moving to study at the crafthall.

The political scene was rapidly changing, chaotic, and...bad. Young Lorum felt a disdain towards Golre. Everything about it was wrong; they told people that golds and bronzes were better, but that was just to keep the more populous dragons under their wing! He would often dream about Impressing metallic despite himself, though. Every child dreamt of dragons, and if he had a metallic dragon, people would suddenly...listen! He could expose the truth about Golre and her Metallic Empire.

As the scene developed, he grew more and more certain that he was onto something. Fort Hold closed off, but he had no interest in returning home, anyways. He set his eyes on the Weyrs. Once Golre was gone, he was determined to figure out what really went on there, and to fix it. In 2767, he was searched. It was with euphoria that he left his craft behind, determined to Impress a dragon--not just because dragons were great, but because it would give him the wedge he needed to crack the case open.

His first hatching was a strange one. Nornth's maiden flight had been one of cruelty, leaving him disgusted in the callous evil of the gold, so had she delighted in the bloodbath. Then, no touching--and then...the dragonets had struggled to Impress. It left him worried. There was definitely something going on here. After that hatching, he researched Nornth's bloodline, and any records about similar dragon events. He found little.

He did not keep much in touch with his family, though they sent him letters, calling him "Lor," so affectionately. He loved them dearly, but he knew there were more important things. His calling...the strange mysteries beneath the surface!

GHERMATH
Image
Ah... well, it is the night of the hunt, is it not? How curious for you to be here. Nevermind then, really. Come, Lorum. I, Ghermath, have plenty to learn, and I am hungry.

BASICS

NAME: Ghermath
BIRTHDATE Spring 2770
AGE: Newborn as of Spring 2770

APPEARANCE
LENGTH: 39ft
HEIGHT: 9.75ft
WINGSPAN: 58.5ft
COLOR: Brown
HEX CODE: #8a755e
FULL APPEARANCE: A small, wrinkled brown. Ghermath looks like he has been prematurely aged, and he could stand a few extra oilings. He is a faded brown all over, with pale splatter-like markings on his wings, and fading on his tail. His markings otherwise are a dark, oak brown. It is over his face, and on his forelegs like carefully laced boots. His hind legs have similar markings, and there are dark wheel-like markings on his hips.

Ghermath will never not sound old and gravely. His voice will always sound like he is raspy and elderly.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Ghermath seems like he is already old. He prefers to sit back and observe, and there will likely be no change in him when he is an old dragon in retirement. That is not to say he is lazy. He has a very practiced eye, better at deciding when is the optimal time to properly act. He is quite dutiful, taking such work very seriously. While he initially finds Essengeth interesting, his opinion will quickly change to see her as useless, favoring Nith overall. Most of his siblings are viewed with suspicion or contempt otherwise, save for Yharnath, who he regards as a friend.

To his rider, Ghermath may be an old man who prefers things done his way. He may argue with them if they do something he does not approve of, but he does care for them at the end of the day. Though he will sometimes greatly resent his work, he can be a fine search dragon if his rider so chose. Though he has no lofty ideas of leadership, he can rise to the occasion if his rider insists.

Egg: The Old Hunter Egg
Class: Hunters
Inspiration: Gehrman from Bloodborne
Info: A hunter is a hunter, even in dream.
A medium-sized, pale brown egg with a shining sun on the front. This egg feels already wise and experienced in the ways of the world.
Dam: Gold Serapheth
Sire: Bronze Diyarth
Number: First out of thirteen
Details: Ghermath hatched first, a wrinkled, old-looking dragonet. He moved slowly, as if with old joints. The touching had been notable, a dream, in which L'ru had met Gehrman. Ghermath's memory of the dream seemed mysterious.
