Not a particularly intimidating dragonrider, Ni'all is clearly still growing. Having yet to hit a growth spurt, Ni'all is often overlooked. He has short black hair and bright blue eyes, and he tries to keep himself as immaculate as possible, believing that appearance is one of the better keys to success. He dresses rather finely and seeks to make the best impressions possible. He has no perspective of how overdressed he is (which is often, really).
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Ni'all is a young man who seems older than he is. He is a calm, collected young man who tries to approach every situation as logically and ethically as possible. He is a caring person, willing to stop in his day to offer assistance, though he is aware that is somewhat small frame and thin appearance makes him unsuited for many more physical tasks. Though the situation has yet to arise, he has a side of him that is willing to sacrifice himself if it means saving others. He keeps that card tucked rather close to his chest, though Calyptrath is very aware and not pleased with it.
For all his virtues, Ni'all's sheltered upbringing makes him somewhat out of touch with most people. An eternal optimist, he is not quite aware that not all situations are solved with nonviolence and understanding. He has ideas to solve problems that are not realistic, as he is not entirely aware of the true logistics of how a Weyr works, though he has made the effort to try to learn. His ideals are lofty, and he has no idea what to do when he must try to approach things more "realistically" for the Weyr, often stumbling over his thoughts and making what others would see as obvious mistakes. When things blow up in his face, he has no real idea how to recover from it, finding himself without a safety net like he had growing up. It has caused him to come off as an arrogant know-it-all, or a bumbling fool.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Wealthy holder parents Morag of Blue Bridgith (older cousin/adopted sister)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: (optional)
BIRTHPLACE: Southern Boll Hold
HISTORY:
Born on a warm spring morning to somewhat wealthy holders, known for trade dealings, Nihanall was in some ways a spoiled child. He had various tutors and lessons, priming him to take over when his parents grew older. He never wanted for anything, though it was his father who ensured that he knew the value of compassion and kindness. His father indeed was a kind man, one who Nihanall looked up to.
When he was 8, his elder cousin - or sister, as they were close enough - Morag and her blue, Bridgith, came to them to visit. Nihanall idolized her, and the two were quite close. With permission, Morag would take him on small "adventures" around the hold, flying through the skies and clouds, showing him a wonderful world beyond the walls that he had only learned about and never truly seen. His studies soon shifted, learning about dragons and riders of old, finding a newfound interest after each visit from Morag and her blue.
It was not Bridgith who Searched him, however. A different rider, one he did not know, picked him from the crowd. Though his mother was initially disappointed that he would not take over when he was grown, the pride of having a rider in the family was far greater than any trade they could have imagined for him. At just over 15 turns, Nihanall was prepared to wait as he was among the other candidates.
However, that was not in the cards.
Calyptrath, as dramatic as he could be, chose the boy. Certainly not what he was expecting, Ni'all now had a brown who was quite the handful, and he would need to learn how to keep the rather over the top dragon on his somewhat best behavior. Not always for the better, as Ni'all's ideas and questions during lessons caused him to start needing to confront the harsh reality that he was no longer a coddled holder child, and his ideas are not as brilliant as he thought, often coming across as a clueless young man who doesn't know Calyptrath's nose from his tailfork.
Nearing graduation, after what was a somewhat of a struggle to learn how to be a better person and rider, Ni'all and Calyptrath have mostly sorted out their issues, somewhat. Though, in truth, Calyptrath has yet to get the boy to really lighten up.
