"Who's that sexy thing I see over there?
That's me, standin' in the mirror
What's that icy thing hanging 'round my neck?
Um, that's gold, show me some respect, oh!"
(Meghan Trainor, Me Too)

Melora is a touch below average in height; 5' 5" in total, and buxom. Melora is proud of herself in all her glory, and carries herself accordingly. In regards to her features, Melora is rather pretty. Bright blonde hair floats along her shoulders like pure spun gold, and her eyes are as blue as a spring blossom. In terms of her dress, Melora is fond of skirts and other feminine clothing, rather than more practical clothing. Putting great effort in lookin her best, it often looks as though she's ready for a Gather, rather than a day of Candidacy.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Proud, vain, and spiteful - all describe Melora well. Born of dragonriders, she thinks herself to be one of Pern's finest Candidates ever bred, and it shows in how she acts and carries herself. Melora tends to view others as competitors or pawns, certainly not as allies. Should she discover someone's weaknesses, she will not hesitate to exploit them to her greatest benefit. Whatever she needs to do to ensure she is on top, she will do it; whatever it takes. But does Melora really possess leadership quality? No, not at all. What she craves is power and status. A gold dragon would secure her both in plenty, while she herself is capable manipulation and cruelty.
As mentioned before, Melora is vain. Every day, she strives to look perfect, and she flaunts her good looks and revels in compliments. Headstrong and stubborn, "no" is not a word in her vocabulary either, nor is "defeat." Melora doesn't give up, not once she's locked eyes on her prize. Should someone prove a challenge, she will view them as a bitter rival, doing everything in her power to remove them from play. Should someone do her wrong her - something that is very easy to do with a woman as easily offended as Melora - she will see them to ruin, and none are spared her righteous wrath. But in contrast, those that earn her favor are treated well by Melora, as a good ruler would treat her finest subjects.
All will know her name, and all will come to respect her, as is her right.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Parents: both dragonriders - both livng
Siblings/Half-Siblings: numerous, both older and younger
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Telgar Weyr
HISTORY:
Like most weyrchildren, Melora was born to dragonriders of flightlust, her father bonded to a mighty bronze, while her mother had Impressed a mere green. But Melora was not at all average, in her own eyes. Placed in Telgar's creche, she grew up learning everything a future Candidate would need to know. But she didn't want a brown or a blue or a green; she was Melora - it was gold or nothing for her. As a result, she began readying herself to be a worthy Weyrwoman, or so she thought. All she accomplished was earning herself a reputation for being shrewish and demanding, obnoxious and bossy and an absolute nightmare to be near. Melora had few friends in her youth, and she was perfectly fine with that. Less messiness and competition for her gold.
Melora entered Candidacy as soon as she was able, at age fifteen. Disregarding her Candidatemaster's counsel, and that of other teachers and all her peers, she refused to consider all other colors completely, and focused singularly upon every gold that hatched, rare as they were. Though she was left Standing each time, she was determined and unwavering in her devotion. To all who could hear, she would boast that she hadn't Impressed for one reason: her gold had not come yet. But whenever she did...Melora would be ready. As Candidates joined, Impressed, and left for weyrlinghood around her, she kept her eyes on her prize, her goal. No one else mattered. Those around her were but annoying at best, competition at worst. But she would rise above them all.
Except she didn't. Five Turns passed, and Melora still hadn't Impressed. As time went on, she began to resent those around her, convinced they were mocking her behind closed doors. But she wouldn't cave so easily. What she needed was a fresh start at a new Weyr, where everyone would recognize her worth, and she'd find her true place with her perfect gold. Choosing Fort Weyr for her new home, she put in for transfer and left as soon as she could. Let Telgar see what they'd lost when she inevitably Impressed, her life a subject for ballads for generations to come.
