He looks quite a lot like a country bumpkin, all messy hair, freckled skin and wide eyes. But he’s a tough young man, often covered in scrapes and bruises from challenging the authority of others. Otherwise, he’s not really all that concerned with his appearance. He'll wear whatever's available to him He doesn’t care if he’s dirty or not, as long as he doesn’t get too messy to where it’s unbearable.
He's recently gone through a growth spurt and still has a hard time with how long his limbs have gotten. As such, he stumbles and can be a little clumsy, adding to his already existing bruises. But he tries his best not to just knock things over with his newly lengthy limbs.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Tarquin is headstrong like his older sister Quinn. But while hers can be mature, his is still somewhat childish and petulant. He will often speak up to try and defy those he thinks are wrong, even if those people are kin. This gets him in trouble as he doesn’t tend to think before he spouts off. But he will rarely back down and will just keep questioning authority if he doesn’t feel satisfied with the answers he’s getting.
However, his pursuit of knowledge is only set aside when he slows down long enough to realize he’s being an annoyance. For his friends and other assorted loved ones, he will settle down when he’s worn himself down. He really does want to learn, all for the benefit of his family and himself. While he SAYS he hold allegiance to Fort Weyr, he’s more interested in the life and knowledge they provide. Despite his desire to learn both sides of the story, he can’t quite forgive ANY Weyr for their history of war and violence.
As such, Intra-weyr politics is a topic he steers himself away from. Because he has some very strong opinions that will start a fight if he finds himself cornered and angry enough.

BIRTHPLACE: In a Cothold beholden to Fort
HISTORY:
Life was had sometimes.
Tarquin was born into a family living in a cothold beholden to Fort. Their family had hated dragons for a couple dozen turns now, due to their family’s misfortunes… they’d lost their hold to dragons and his parents had made sure to remind him that Riders and Dragons were not to be trusted.
But why?
Tarquin was not content with their historical answers. That had happened long ago. And while it was still very sad that that had happened, they had a chance to grow past it. To realize that those dragons and riders were wrong, but not all Riders were like that! Surely, that was the case, right?
That’s why when he saw his eldest sister Quinn turn down a Searchdragon, he was furious. He would have very much have liked to have been Searched! He’d be a good example to those Riders, he’d be a Rider with morals and not hurt anyone who was just minding their own business.
But then the fires happened.
And his prosperous little life ended up a nightmare. He had to work, and while it wasn’t HARD, he still longed to ride a dragon. Surely if Quinn could get Searched, he could to! And so, he worked and worked, doing menial jobs for whatever marks he could earn. And when he wasn’t working, he did his very best to glean what he could from the people living there about dragons. What were they really like? Surely they weren’t cruel beasts or horrible monsters like his family said they were. He cobbled together a somewhat crude understanding of them, and did what he could to remember them.
Finally, the day came when he turned 15. And he knew that maybe, just maybe, he could be Searched out. So he did his best to be as visible as possible, and just like his sister, a dragonrider and her dragon found him at a Gather. Unlike his his sister, he was more than eager to let her take him away, parents’ disapproving scolding be damned.
He was eager to show that dragons weren’t all awful, and that maybe his parents just needed to meet one that could change their minds... But there was a slight incident when he arrived at last. He had spotted his sister from a little ways away, being followed by what could only be described as a brown and white dragon? Strange. He'd wanted to run over, say hello. But he'd have his chance later.
Little did he know that that dragon would have quite the impact on him...
