FULL APPEARANCE: Mercy's appearance is much at odds with her personality. She has a sweetheart's face. Delicate features, a winning smile, and bright eyes. Her hair is pin straight, a middling sort of color that darkens in the winter to something closer to brown, and lightens in the summer to something closer to blonde. It will not hold a curl, or really, any sort of style at all.
While small, Mercy doesn't have a weak appearance. Too lazy to have any real muscle tone, the possibility is there. She is compact and well proportioned. While she often plays up being waif-like for sympathy points, there is something just outside the believable about it. She wears simple but well cared for clothing. Sometimes embroidered with scraps or gifts of thread. She has a steady hand a good mind for patterns.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Mercy came into the world much the way she was to live in it. In the midst of a tantrum. While she is older now and has learned more refined ways to get what she wants, Mercy rarely - if ever - uses hard work to achieve those means. She is manipulative. Unafraid to use her looks or her tears to get what she wants, or out of trouble when her poor life choices land her in it.
A false friend, Mercy doesn't have any real loyalty outside of her family. And even with them she still uses many of the same tactics. While she doesn't go out of her way to hurt others, she rarely considers how her actions might effect them. She enjoys attention, often inserting herself into groups or conversations. She likes the idea of friends, people who care about and do things for you. People to be with. But she doesn't have the urge to do for.
She very much misses her brothers. Weyr life is much harder than home life. The people are less forgiving of her foibles, and she is having to learn to be more careful and judicious with her tantrums.

BIRTHPLACE: Minor Hold - Fort Territory
HISTORY: Last and most difficult born. A docile pregnancy that culminated in a birth more chaotic than threadfall. Louder than the sudden summer storm raging outside, Mercy was born screaming, her own umbilical cord clenched in her first.
She got no better as she aged. The much petted little sister she was mulish and prone to pouting. Learning early that wobbling lips and the threat of tears would get her nearly anything she wanted. And when it didn't, wailing usually did. She was a spoiled, lazy child. Mumbling her lessons rather than singing them. Sharp little chin tipped resolutely toward Stubborn.
Her parents tried. Her mother scolded, her father punished. And her brothers undid all their work. Secreting her sweets when she was sent to bed without dinner. Sneaking her coddles and presents. Mercy learned many unsavory lessons, building an arsenal of bad habits and ugly manipulation tactics.
Lucky enough to have a secure home. Her father a burly smith, half her brothers following in his footsteps. The others skilled laborers. She was loved, for all she made her parents despair, her brothers too short sighted to see the damage being done by her spoiling.
Mercy was a bitter drudge when she was Searched. Forced to do menial work because she excelled at nothing. Too lazy to try, too prideful to take pride in the work she did. Surely she was above sweeping ash or scrubbing pots? Her stitchery was decent enough, but her attitude made it hard for others to enjoy her or her work.
Obviously the green dragon that turned a multifaceted eye on her was the answer to all her problems. Of course she would be a dragonrider! How could she have ever thought she would be anything else? Even if she'd never thought to be one at all before that moment.
