FULL APPEARANCE:
Though he stands at a somewhat awkward stature, his build more lithe than strong in spite of Turns of wherhandling, Mackenzie stands at a solid height of 6' 2" total. Kept trimmed neatly, his hair is bright blonde, though his bangs sweep into his eyes more often than not. Large and round, bright blue eyes full of wonder take in his world, behind a set of large round glasses; though his sight isn't terrible, objects far off still seem blurry if he doesn't wear them. Usually, they wear a dark turtleneck under a heather-colored sweater, breeches, and sturdy boots; otherwise, he wears his riding leathers, well-kept and well-loved. Mackenzie is almost always seen carrying his beloved journal and a writing implement to take notes and draw sketches of various things he encounters on a given day.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Mackenzie is a gentle giant. Though he moves awkwardly and can be quite clumsy, he doesn't let that get him down much. While he loves to cuddle and be physically affectionate toward those he loved, he often worries he'll accidentally hurt them. Mackenzie is fondness of multiple things life has to offer, including klah, reading, and studying dragonkind, whers in particular. Dragons seem to get more praise and notice, in his opinion, so his main focus is whers, seeing him often absorbed in his thoughts. Though he's not sure why, he often finds himself feeling rather cold, leading him to be fond of fluffy things, like sweater and blankets, as well as cuddling, to keep warm. Mackenzie also enjoys cooking and sketching. After Turns of practice, he's quite good at both, though he doesn't see it, being rather humble and somewhat insecure in his abilities. Unlike his written and mental knowledge of dragonkind, Mackenzie is very shy about showing his work to others, no matter how curious someone might be.
Mackenzie is a loving and accepting person, no matter what; he'll always listen to someone's troubles and do his best to make them feel better. There isn't a mean bone in his body, so much so that he'll often keep his voice down and agree to what others say, being a follower more than a leader. But if someone's feelings are hurt in Mackenzie's company, he'll do everything necessary to make things right, no matter his own discomfort or what he must do. Underneath his gentle nature, easygoing disposition, and willingness to listen, Mackenzie is caught in a tangle of insecurities. Depression is a common demon he faces, almost always terribly anxious behind such kind smile. Once Mackenzie takes in all he can, he crashes; simply shuts down. More often than not, he'll hide away, decline visitors, drinking too much klah than what’s healthy, sleeping very little, and getting lost in negative thought.

Into today, Mackenzie doesn't know if he was born of love or a passing moment of passion or something else completely; sometimes he feels he shouldn't know. While his mother died in childbirth, his father disappeared shortly after his birth; he is thought to be dead as well. Mackenzie was taken in by a loving family, raised by them in a cozy home in Southern Boll Hold. Mackenzie was aware he wasn't biologically related to his family by early childhood, as his parents didn't hide his past from him, not believing in keeping secrets. But he feels no different toward his parents; he loves them in all his heart, body, and soul. Mackenzie and Raymond, his older brother, are very close, in spite of Raymond being three inches taller and all muscle in comparison to Mackenzie. Mackenzie especially has a soft spot for his mother, being a frail and fragile woman in poor health, her love and skill in cooking coming from his effort to prepare good foods for her, to keep her strength up.
Mackenzie developed an interest for dragonkind after being lucky enough to witness a Search occur in Southern Boll, at a tender age of seven. After telling his parents in great detail, he immediately began to draw his best rendition of what he saw. Disgusted at its poor quality, Mackenzie trashed it and tried again. Disappointed time and time again in his sketches, he worked hard until an accurate and good-looking sketch of that dragon and her bonded appeared on his page. It had taken them a Turn of dedication to accomplish it, but he ultimately succeeded; an artist and an enthusiast for dragonkind was born. Mackenzie expressed an interest and talent for Scribecraft not long after, beginning an Apprenticeship as soon as he was eligible. In between his studies, he worked at improving his sketching, turning into a hobby in which he was very skilled. Once he stumbled across materials on dragonkind during his years of Apprenticing, he happily adding such knowledge to his repertoire.
But it was relatively recent that Mackenzie felt a need to explore more of himself; being so absorbed in his Apprenticeship and other pursuits had previously left him little time or thought, so much so that he'd completely disregarded taking time to learn about himself. Encouragement from his mother managed to get Mackenzie onto that invisible path of self-discovery. Though he was long since an adult and could care for himself, Mackenzie stayed close to his foster family in Southern Boll, content where he was and wanting to care for his mother, who's health had continued to been degrade. But thanks to his mother's gentle nudging, Mackenzie made a choice: to follow his dreams and be a wherhandler. Swallowing down his fear of rejection, he journeyed to Fort Weyr, stopping briefly in Fort Hold; after hearing stories of what had happened across its long history, he wanted to see for himself. Mackenzie arrived at Fort Weyr, hoping he had what it took to be a wherhandler.
