FULL APPEARANCE:
Tall and muscular, H'nel looks like the sort of woman who can pick up her patient, stretcher and all, and cart them a few miles without bothering to stop. She's heavy-set, from the bones on out, though most of her weight is muscle rather than the fat some might assume despite her hourglass figure. Her smile is warm and her eyes and eyebrow - singular - are expressive, twinkling with good humour or snapping with irritation.
With a lot of curve to her frame she's never to be seen without a supportive bodice, especially for exercises. She makes the best of it, though, and her clothing is always well-tailored and cut with an eye to preserving her modesty even when she sneezes, runs, or otherwise makes sudden movements in unusual directions. She doesn't flaunt what she's got, but she does have a waist and she doesn't mind proving it.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
There are two sides to H'nel, so far as most people know. The first is a warm, generous and caring woman who never hesitates to help anyone who needs it. It was obvious why she took up as a Healer, fascinated by the craft even from her creche days, and even though it was a long-term goal she took many years to achieve, achieve it she did with a dedication and focus.
The second side most people see is the no-nonsense Healer who doesn't suffer fools gladly. If you need stitches because of an accident, well, accidents happen and what did you learn; if you need stitches because your last words before the injury were 'watch this', you're going to get the sharp side of her tongue, and the sharp side of her tongue is very sharp indeed.
The side of H'nel that most people don't see is the side that knows that there are lots of people out there who're much better at all this stuff than she is and that sooner or later she'll get found out as an utter incompetent and kicked out of the Weyr. She doesn't know how to handle praise, and she can't help but think that the people who like her don't really know her. There's a yawning void of inadequacy and imposter syndrome lurking beneath the surface, and the more people tell her she's doing well, the bigger that void gets. She's just waiting for it to all come crashing down around her ears, and it makes her hesitant and nervous and disinclined to put herself forward and be noticed.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Assorted half-siblings, cousin Uryuu
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
HISTORY:
Hanelly, daughter of a dragonrider and a Healer posted to the Weyr from the Hold, had a perfectly normal childhood in the creche where she was a girl who just got on with life, looking after those around her and getting more and more interested in the Healing craft. During her Candidate years she kept the Healercraft in mind at every step; time with the Tailors spent learning to make neat stitches, time with the Beastcrafters learning how to care for animals and handle injuries, time with the Vintners learning about the strong spirits Healers use - and finally when she was old enough, she applied to the Healers to become an Apprentice and dedicated herself to her Craft outside the duties of Candidacy.
It's been a couple of years since she became an Apprentice, and to her seniors she's proving to be both competent and eager to learn. No dragon has chosen her yet, and frankly she doesn't expect one to, not with who she knows herself to be - but she definitely wants to be a Healer. Even if (she thinks) she isn't very good at it. After all, they always need someone to clean the Infirmary properly and look after the patients while the real Healers do the actual Healing, right?
