Matyll has a strong jawline covered in a bushy beard, a thicker nose, tanned skin and dark brown eyes. He frowns more than he smiles, arms crossed and stare looking as if it could dig a hole through your soul. He looks imposing and is imposing, and his appearance reflects that.
He has no freckles or beauty marks to be seen, but he has a multitude of scars. The most prominent of which is a deep gash from the bottom of his right cheek up to his forehead, missing his eye by a fraction of a centimeter. Others to note would be the three small parallel scars on the left part of his jaw, cutting through his beard, as well as the collection of them on his body.
A fan of darker colors and heavier clothes, M'yll is rarely seen without his trademark leather jacket (a jacket that has been around since he Impressed Cairnorith) even in the hot summer days.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Matyll is a cold, gruff and arrogant old man. He hates talking, and would rather express his emotions through actions. When he does talk, he doesn't want to say much, he gets to the point and that is enough for him. Another day is just another couple hours to get through to him, he doesn't live for the extra little fun moments of life, he lives to get things done.
He is not a fan of being friendly, since the time he was born he has never been one for friendliness. He knows that in the end, not everybody is going to like everybody else, he's had a hard time making friends in the past, so he takes it upon himself to get through life alone. This does not mean that he is nothing but semi-cordial, he wants things to move along quickly and he knows that being somewhat compliant gets you to the end faster. He is a solitary man and enjoys his quiet time, liking a cold drink away from the world to get his thoughts together on what he is going to do next.
Even though he doesn't often engage in being friendly, he can be. He can be warm, inviting, patient, but this is extremely rare. He only shows this side once in a blue moon, either to those in critical condition and about to die or to those he truly loves and holds dear to himself.
HISTORY
FAMILY: J'os of Bronze Nerleynalth (father, deceased), S'uka of Green Panmorilith (mother, deceased), S'vim of White Cessiath (wife, deceased), S'atyl of Green Niamith (daughter, alive)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: S'vim of White Cessiath (wife, deceased)
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
HISTORY:
Matyll was the quiet child that people were pitiful and wearyful of, yet he saw no reason for people to pity him. He didn't want to be around the other children, finding them annoying and their voices shrill. Their fighting didn't impress him much and he created a distaste for his fellow weyrbrats. He continued distancing himself from them until he was forced to make friends, of which he only made one, a quiet and sweet woman by the name of Siriavim, his younger by two years. Over the years, Matyll opened himself up to Siriavim, the two becoming each other's closest friend and eventual sweetheart. His mood would turn on a dime for her, turning from the quiet loner to the kind man that only she knew.
He decided to stand as a candidate, much like his mother and father did many years before him, at the age of nineteen. However, he didn't impress until he was twenty-one. He was lucky as well as grateful to finally Impress Bronze Cairnornth. At this time, he took on the honorific name of M'yll. Siriavim had stood as a candidate year after and Impressed White Cessiath, taking on the honorific S'vim. As the years passed, the two married and eventually had a daughter, Siriatyl. When she became of age, she too became a candidate and, eventually, a dragonrider. The three were known as strong dragonriders, willing to take on the toughest of challenges.
As time passed, M'yll became occupied with both keeping his own weyr safe as well as his family. Any knowledge of other weyrs, unless they threatened his home, was quickly uncared for as he went to make sure things were running smoothly around Benden. He once learned about the mutations of both dragons and whers in other weyrs, intrigued in a way, but never following up to go and see them for himself. He never signed up for the strike mission against Serapheth's clutch, but was disappointed in his weyr's failure to complete their mission.
During a particularly harsh threadfall, M'yll lost his wife to her injuries while his daughter was in critical condition and expected to die. He became angry, angry at himself, angry at the healers for being unable to save his family, angry at the world for taking his one source of joy. Unable to live alone with himself even after years of perfecting that same lone feeling in his childhood, he decided that he needed to leave. He needed to get out. Get away. He lost his wife and he was going to lose his daughter within the coming days. One was enough, two was torture that he couldn't bear.
Hearing that many bronzeriders had been transferring out of Benden to Fort because of Nornth's mating flight, he took that as his chance. He requested a transfer as soon as he could, immediately leaving his home and dying daughter behind. He had a second shot to do something with his life. He had followed the family route and it ended badly, it ended with a broken heart. His new route was one of an angry power chaser, a man with nothing left to lose and a whole lot more to gain.
