then you have to stop letting the kitchen staff collect your plates untouched."

BASICS

NAME: Rhiasyn
GENDER: Female
PRONOUNS: she/her/hers
ORIENTATION: Biromantic, Heteroflexible

BIRTHDATE: Spring 2744
AGE: 27, 27 as of Winter 2771
LOCATION: Fort Weyr
OCCUPATION: Lower Caverns staff, aspiring Headwoman.
WING: N/A

APPEARANCE
EYES: Brown
HAIR: Dark Blonde, curly
HEIGHT AND BUILD: 5'7", average build.
PLAY-BY: Rachel Platten
FULL APPEARANCE: Of average height, give of take an inch, with dark blonde hair and brown eyes there isn't all too much that remarkable about Rhiasyn to look at her. She's pretty enough, sure, but there is nothing to truly make her stand out in a crowd. Which, as with most things in life, is okay with her - she's accepted her average-ness and embraces it like an old friend. Happy that she can get up, brush a hand through her hair (or tie it back) and get on with her day, Rhiasyn isn't one for makeup or fancy jewellery. She'll be busy soon enough, no point wearing anything that could get pulled or caught or broken.

Her clothing follows the same lines, simple and practical. She'll wear skirts and dresses as much as tunics and trousers and always opts for layers over anything too bulky. She often has days where her plans change without warning, and a day where she expects to be in the warm kitchen for most of it can sometimes turn into one spent cleaning out bedrooms or sorting through the cold stores. Which does explain why she will often have to wonder around the lower caverns in the evening before finishing for the day, rounding up a discarded cardigan or a scarf she laid aside. She'll never forget where she left them, but she knows where she can safely leave things without worry.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: A bright and sunny soul, Rhiasyn's view is that there isn't a problem that can't be solved with a bit of time and hard work. Time heals most wounds in her experience, though in the short term sometimes a glass of wine can help too. To this end, while she empathises with the troubles of others she can be more inclined to offer practical solutions rather then just a sympathetic ear, forgetting sometimes that this is all some people need.

On a similar vein, she can at times be too forward, too willing to involve herself in the affairs of others, even if they don't ask for her help. She considers it being helpful, showing she cares, but she can at times can be stubborn about it - convinced that she is doing what is best for them even when her approach doesn't suit everyone. She's not afraid of a bit of grumpiness, or a glare or scowl shot in her direction, so she's not deterred as easily as perhaps she should be.

She carries this attentiveness over to her work, where it works to her advantage. She enjoys noticing things, considering them and turning over their implications in her mind, assessing what will be relevant to her in the future or could impact things in the lower caverns. There is only so much room in any one person's mind, she reasons, so things that don't effect her or the lower caverns are quickly put to one side, forgotten in favour of the things that she can do things about. If they're unlikely to impact her though, why should she worry about them?

Practical and organised, Rhiasyn is indeed well suited to the role she's landed herself in. Ready and willing to do whatever is needed of her, she thoroughly enjoying that no two days are ever the same, and finds that often the days that don't go as she expected are often the ones she enjoys most. She enjoys responsibility when she's given it, enjoys when she is give the opportunity to guide newer members of staff. She knows she's not ready to step into the Headwoman's shoes right now, but ultimately since she's aged out, she's come to realise that's where her aspirations lie now. Where she feels she can be the most use.

Rhiasyn is also fiercely independent, within the realms of her private life at the very least. While she's friendly and outgoing in the Weyr as a whole, once she's decided she's had enough of people she's quick to retreat to the privacy of her own room - a sanctuary that she finds it a struggle to let people into. It's her personal space, filled with things that are hers, and she gets edgy when they're touched or that space is invaded. Relationships have been a challenge in the past and while she's accepted that to an extent, sometimes she still wants something, someone.

HISTORY
FAMILY: Mother: Ikarre, Trader; Father: Sabrir, Trader; Siblings: Many;
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
BIRTHPLACE: No Fixed Abode/On The Road
HISTORY: Born in the Spring of 2744 at the side of a road somewhere in Igen's territory, Rhiasyn was the middle child in what was a fairly large family. Both her parents were born and raised in the trading caravans and that was how she was raised herself. Helping out here and there as needed and meeting new people every few sevendays. It was what it was and while Rhiasyn was sometimes jealous of the people in the Holds they visited, envying them their stability and ability to collect and own things just because, it wasn't the life she had - so why pine after it?

Her teens followed along the same vein. Her parents didn't see the need for their children to formally study a craft so she stayed with the caravan, learning bits and pieces from the other traders. If she'd been adamant about a craft, perhaps they would have let her, but in truth Rhiasyn never felt a true calling towards any of them.

Being searched at 17, as they passed through Fort's territory, came as a surprise. There was no history of dragon riding in her family that she knew of and in truth she'd never considered the possibility. Knowing she could return to the caravan if she failed to impress was all Rhiasyn needed to know before she agreed. Especially as by impressing, she'd be able to be a more tangible help in terms of protect her family from the threat of thread, that complicated their lives.

Weyr life was a shock to her system. The small area that was 'hers' in the candidates barracks was larger then she was used to, however staying in one place with the same people all the time? That felt suffocating sometimes. However, so used to not really getting attached to the people she met, the realisation a few sevendays in that she could potentially know these people for turns and turns was eye opening and Rhiasyn embraced it fully - opening herself up to friendships with both her fellow candidates and the workers of the lower caverns.

Having accepted the new garnet mutations without too much thought (they were there now, so why worry about it), when it became apparent that at least some of them could also produce clutches, Rhiasyn accepted that easily enough as well - indeed, she welcomed the potential additional clutches to stand for. Which was also how she approached most of the changes in the Weyr, accepting things for what they were and when there was nothing she could do about it - by keeping out of the way. Helping where she could.

With no specific craft skills, Rhiasyn found herself assigned to a mix of tasks throughout her candidacy, often reporting to the Headwoman or her assistants to see where they needed her at any given time. Neither afraid of hard work, nor put off by the dirtiest of tasks, she quickly proved herself a useful worker and not lacking in the common sense department either. Such as it was, when she officially aged out as a candidate, she formally joined the ranks of the lower caverns.

Yes, not impressing had been disappointing, of course it had, especially having made friends with many of the candidates that had impressed. It was what it was though and the Weyr had given her something almost as good - a place to put down roots and call a permanent home. There were times when she missed the road perhaps, but they'd become fewer and further between as the turns had worn on, and she still had the chance to leave the Weyr for a day or two if she ever felt the wanderlust creeping in.

Having been 'aged out' of candidacy for just under two turns when the decision was made to open up the age range for candidates, Rhiasyn didn't give the opportunity much thought. She was content with her life - happy with where she'd ended up and already planning new aspirations - why go backwards?

DUST
Image

BASICS

NAME: Dust
BIRTHDATE Autumn 2762
AGE: 9 as of Winter 2771

APPEARANCE
SIZE: Large
COLOR: Green
FULL APPEARANCE: A dark green, on the larger end of the size spectrum (and the chubbier), Dust is fairly unremarkable in dim light. What markings she has are subtle, flecked spots across her wings and lighter markings under her chin and on her feet.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: A grumpy, anti-social firelizard by all accounts. Dust considers strangers with distrust and avoids them wherever possible, even people she knows are tolerated at best. She is protective of 'her' space, hissing and grumbling when Rhiasyn brings someone to her room for any reason, but ultimately, she's more likely to leave or hide behind something than actually choose to nip at someone.

There is however, a sweet side to her, that sneaks out when she and Rhiasyn are alone. Affection is very much on her terms, and rare, but she'll sleep at Rhiasyn's feet at night, or beside her while she's working, but she's not that common a sight on Rhiasyn's shoulder or out in the wider Weyr.
