V'dar is, at 6'8", a solidly built man, not heavily muscled, but fit and athletic. His eyes are a dark brown and his thick hair is blond and kept on the shorter side. He keeps his face clean shaven. Not one for fashion, nevertheless he makes sure to appear neat and presentable.

V’dar is reluctantly social in that he needs to be coaxed out of his room, but once he gets settled and starts to relax, he can be a pleasant conversationalist. He comes off as aloof at first, but wants to be noticed and included, he’s just not sure how to do that. He doesn’t have many friends, but there are a few he can open up to the way he can Liralith. He doesn’t like feeling vulnerable, but he is learning that discussing one’s feelings isn’t a weakness, it’s something all people do. He gets flustered when inappropriate conversations are going on near him; it’s fun to watch him turn red, so Lars tends to drag him in just to see him squirm.
For the most part, V’dar is quiet, preferring to observe rather than participate. By observing, he feels he can learn more about others, enough to give him the confidence to interact. His preferred hobby is reading, philosophy mostly, though Threadfall tactics are interspersed within. He has some issues to work out still, such as the guilt he has for the way he treated Hans, but by reading and seeing a mindhealer he is working through things.

HISTORY:
Vidar was born a middle child of a large family at Ista. Often lost in the sea of brothers, he went unnoticed much of the time unless one of his elder siblings was looking for someone to pick on. As more brothers followed him, he began to pick on them as well in an attempt to divert attention from himself. Hans bore the brunt of it from all of them, as the youngest of the bunch. His family's toxic doctrine of might makes right was instilled in him from a young age and he felt a desperate need to prove himself to his father. His older brothers left one by one as they got older, but it wasn't until he was searched at 19 that Vidar ended up at Ista Weyr.
Soon after arriving, he realized that his father's way of thinking wasn't all that popular with the other candidates and found himself having a harder time adjusting to candidacy than he thought. Knowing his background, Lars suggested that he see a mindhealer as he was in the hopes that it would help his younger brother come to terms with their chaotic family. Vidar was reluctant at first, not wanting to expose his vulnerabilities to another, but eventually he caved. It was difficult for him to open up, but after a while he found himself benefitting from treatment. It helped him become more acclimated to candidacy and allowed him to become closer to Lars, even if they weren't bosom buddies.
He and Lars attended hatchings together, and when Lars Impressed his Bronze Scabellath he felt a small twinge of jealousy, but he let it pass. Instead, he learned what he could about caring for a dragon from his brother, so when the a clutch next hatched on Ista's sands he felt ready for anything, or so he thought. Toward the middle of the hatching a Green broke her shell, emerald green and wearing armor along her back, and she wasted no time in marching up to Vidar to make her intentions known.

Once over the initial shock, V'dar found himself in a tight spot. He couldn't NOT say anything to his family, but he wasn't sure he could handle them finding out that his dragon was Green, not Bronze. He begged Lars to cover for him and the latter agreed, preferring to not mention Liralith at all if he could help it. V'dar worked hard throughout weyrlinghood, both with Liralith and a mindhealer. Aside from occasional footnotes in Lars' letters home, he didn't contact his family much, and not at all once his brother transferred to High Reaches. It would be a few turns before he decided to transfer as well, not so secretly because he missed Lars. He had few attachments at Ista, so a change in location seemed to be in their best interest.
