FULL APPEARANCE: Trigel is of average height and willowy build, with medium-brown skin and dark brown eyes. She keeps her straight black hair to just past her shoulders, leaving it half-up when she's not on duty and shoving it into submission when she is. She can be found either in riding leathers or in well-made clothes, usually in greens and blues. Her hands are callused, a testament to her two jobs, and her arms have some scars due to a Threadfall injury early in her riding career. She sometimes has a plant or flower tucked into her hair, though this is rare and a sign that she's very tired.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: In her ideal world, Trigel would be out exploring, collecting plants and testing their properties. Usually on herself - how would she test the antiseptic properties of a new find otherwise? She has an insatiable curiosity about the natural world that she indulges whenever she has a spare few moments. A meticulous person, she keeps her dried plant collection organized and well-protected from harm's way.
But Trigel has learned to pick her battles. She acts the part of the lady scribe well when it's called for, though she does have a nasty temper. She can be very petty and vindictive, and still finds it hard to hide her glee when her revenge is discovered. But she can act a Lady that her parents would be proud of. Social graces and lady's manners are more intellectual exercises for her, things she can perform. But she's happiest when she's around her true friends and can relax and be herself.
Trigel is surprisingly a decent leader, though her leadership style could be considered unconventional. She trusts her subordinates to know what they're doing, giving them a good degree of autonomy, but holding them accountable for their actions. She also makes an excellent follower, working well as part of a team - as long as she trusts the others in her team.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Steward of Southern Boll Hold - father
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Southern Boll Hold
HISTORY: The Steward of Southern Boll and his wife were told that they could not have any children after Trigel's birth. Though they were somewhat disappointed by her being a daughter instead of a son, they were determined to raise her well and perhaps marry her off for political gain when she was old enough.
Trigel was having absolutely none of that. She was an adventurous child, slipping out of the grasps of one tired caretaker after another to go explore. In the times that they could get hold of her, her tutors tried to teach her the ways of a proper lady. An intelligent child, she soaked in what she learned, but far preferred to be off collecting plants.
When she was ten, her parents had enough, and decided to send her to apprentice to a lady-appropriate craft. She fought with her parents, wanting to become a healer and explore the properties of plants, while her parents thought it was a very messy and unladylike occupation. Trigel eventually, grudgingly, acquiesced to becoming a scribe, since she had no ear for music or desire to weave fabrics. She would still get to learn, she supposed. She excelled in her studies and walked the tables when she was eighteen. Now would she get to collect plants?
But no, it was not to be. She returned home and was promptly whisked into arrangements for a political marriage. She had absolutely no desire to marry the third son of a cousin of the Telgar Lord, but was resigned to it being her lot in life, seeing no way out and not actively disliking the man. Until a Telgar Searchrider came at an opportune moment, when Trigel's parents and her intended husband's parents were away, leaving Trigel alone to accept the Search.
After getting to the Weyr, Trigel wrote to her parents, informing them what had happened and that she was not coming home. Even if she aged out, there was surely a place for her as a scribe at Telgar Weyr. They were furious, but they knew the right of Search, and accepted the "loss" of their daughter with surprising grace.
During her nearly five Turns of candidacy, Trigel became close to some other people at the Weyr, including Zarkon, Honerva, and Alfor. She was delighted when she, Zarkon, and Alfor all Impressed at the same clutch, and remained close to them during weyrlinghood and after graduation.
When she got wind that Z'kon and Honerva were transferring to High Reaches Weyr, Trigel made plans to go with them. She was disappointed when Alfor decided not to follow, but...there was a Weyr to rebuild, and plants to collect.
