PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
J'ack believes in following the rules, regardless of the consequences. Even if it's a bad rule, he will continue to support it, as that's what the higher ups decided was best for the weyr. After all, they clearly know better. Due to this, he does not like to break the letter of the rules and often tries to be a shining beacon for all other riders to abide by. Along with this, he believes in following rules, even if it results in someone getting hurt. He is firm in his beliefs as well that a gold is the best option for High Reaches. Regardless of the weyr's history with them, he believes they need to obtain a gold, regardless as some people feel.
He tends to be more invested in his work than his personal life. Even if he loves or cares for someone, he will tend to be more devoted to his work and often tries to stay single as he doesn't want to be a horrible partner to someone he loves. Due to him being a hard worker, he tends to train as soon as he is able to and as long as he can. He also likes to help others, often having a smile on his face. He can be friendly to others and often encourages people to do their best. Accidents can happen and he'll be there to encourage the injured party that they can always do it again and succeed.
If he is needed to, he is willing to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Rider Parents
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Ista Weyr
HISTORY:
J'ack had been born in the middle of the Interval War, born to two dragonriders who served Ista Weyr. He was raised by the creche for a good portion of his life, though he looked up greatly to his parents and saw them as heroes. He dreamed of becoming a dragonrider like them. Even as a child, he would pretend to be a dragonrider while playing with the other children in the creche.
His parents, when they were around, would teach him the good in following the rules and the leaders of the weyr. They told him often that the leaders knew everything and that what they said should always be followed. J'ack took those words to heart, deciding to follow them as he entered candidacy at the age of fifteen.
During his turns as a candidate, he began to push himself to his goal. However, because of this, with him physically training himself often, he began to spend less and less time with his friends. He was still friendly to them, but they did grow apart. After two turns, at the age of seventeen, he would impress to the dragon, Reyth. However, they did not seem to get along at first.
Reyth was more lax about rules and was willing to question rules while J'ack was not. In fact, J'ack thought Reyth had impressed to him just to start fights with him. However, as they continued to work together as weyrlings, they started to get along more and more. Reyth was a bit of a tease, but he was also a relatively good friend. Eventually, they developed a bond as strong as brothers as they graduated as dragonriders.
Shortly after they graduated, however, news of Golre's death reached Ista Weyr. It was no secret about how Golre was as a dragonrider and as the leader of High Reaches. J'ack felt that this would not be an easy situation for High Reaches and, after discussing it with Reyth, the two decided to transfer to High Reaches in winter of 2762.
Admittedly, living at High Reaches was a bit different than J'ack expected. As he served as a dragonrider, the current gold the weyr had, Otohith, had died from a deadly plague that had affected PERN. In fact, it seemed that her death sparked a new desire for a different form of leadership. As the council formed, more tragedies took place within the two turns before it was established. Another gold dragon, Midath, was killed on the day she took flight with another dragon. Along with this, the junior weyrleader was assassinated. He had been quick to blame Xander like many others had, until he learned of the other being attacked.
That was part of the reason why he voted for Xander to join the first council and his reelect. The council seemed to do a lot of good for High Reaches. However, J'ack did not approve of Anaiya when she was elected. He thought that a weyr needed a gold dragon, but surely, as the weyrleader, Anaiya knew what was best, right?
During the turn, 2770, two eggs suddenly appeared. When news came out they came from Fort Weyr, J'ack felt sick. He didn't really know what to think, but it made him sick. It just felt.. wrong to him. However, he did not leave the weyr as a result, as High Reaches had become his home.
However, later that turn, a gold dragon hatched in the sands, Aldoeith. J'ack hoped she would bring new hope to the weyr, even if it caused Anaiya to leave the weyr. High Reaches had a lot of bad luck with golds, so he could only hope.
Sadly, not everything went well, as Toki plans on leaving with Aldoeith. He can only hope she produces a gold dragon in her maiden flight, as High Reaches needs it.
