FULL APPEARANCE:
- Standing at six feet one inch in height, Amaata stands several inches taller than most women and as tall as a great many men. Her hair is dark brown, and her eyes are a light hazel, picking up golden hues. She has a naturally tanned complexion with freckles dotted across her face, with a straight nose and full lips. She dresses in neutral tones in gender-neutral styles, mostly trousers and other practical garments. She doesn't really believe in trying to be pretty most of the time, although she does pull off a nice gather dress (usually in blue). She tends to walk with a slightly aloof posture, detaching herself from those around her. She has a bright, lyrical voice that is seldom sure and frequently uncertain. Amaata is a songbird that won't sing, hiding in the brush, and just needs the right trigger to come out into the open.

PERSONALITY:
- An active woman, Amaata frequently is found doing something. She is also very alert and tends to notice people before they notice her ... partially because Amaata is quiet and generally keeps to herself. Keeping secrets is easy for her because she is so insecure and uncertain.
A complex woman, Amaata has many sides to her. She is not the sort to fit into one box at all the time, and she might come off differently to different people mostly based on her authority in the situation (she is reasonably comfortable on Search, for example) and her comfort level (she is least comfortable in one-on-one potentially romantic or amorous situations).
Amaata is rarely actually cheery and frequently found to be jaded. Introverted and gauche, she is only anywhere approaching smooth when she is on duty and being professional. In general, Amaata lacks confidence and backbone. However, she is mature, prudent, and punctual. In the end, she has the makings of a strong woman if she can gain self-esteem.

- Born to a pair of dragonriders at Igen and conceived during a mating flight, Amaata lived a rather free life, although she saw very little of her parents. While her parents had one dream for her - to ride gold one day - Amaata was less sure of her path. She studied hard, played harder, and learned whatever she could from whoever would teach her. As such she knows varying small to useful amounts of such skills as cooking, sewing, basket weaving, and even tatting. She never settled on one job, instead bouncing from one type of work to another.
Eventually - and, in truth, right on schedule - Amaata was settled into life as a candidate at her birth weyr. She wasn't always completely happy about it, but she was more or less content ... more content as time went on. At least, at first; there came a point after she had been rejected by her first three clutches where she took a turn and started to become more and more depressed each time a new clutch came and she was passed over.
By the time she finally Impressed at twenty-three she was relieved to Impress at all. The fact that she Impressed Blue when there had been so much pressure from her parents to Impress Gold didn't matter, she loved Kuroth like she'd never thought to love a male.
She completed her weyrlingship without a hitch, Kuroth growing into a small blue with a slightly immature look to him even as an adult. Amaata and Kuroth settled into a fighting wing, and so far everything is going well ... even if Amaata keeps waiting for something to go wrong.
At the same time, however, everything kept insisting on going right. She was doing well in her wing and generally fitting in as a dragonrider better than she ever thought that she would.
A few months after her weyrlingship someone was giving away flit eggs; Kuroth, ever curious, wanted to know what all the fuss was about. Amaata explained as well as she could, and Kuroth asked if they could have one. And so Amaata acquired a mottled green firelizard that Kuroth tried to name Skath, but Amaata quickly redirected into being named Skatha.
Recently she has been made the move to High Reaches, hoping to start over and maybe find herself. She has since then gone on Search a great deal, finding that she and Kuroth have a knack for it. Being on Search gives her a strange confidence that she usually lacks, and a point of authority with which to hide her insecurities. So far, so good? But she’s still waiting for things to fall apart.
