FULL APPEARANCE: M'ando is a very intimidating sort of fellow. He is on the taller side and well built from his turns as a rider. He almost always has a blank expression on his face, like he is wearing a mask that hides his feelings. He likes to remain inconspicuous, so favors neutral colors and plain materials in his wardrobe.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: M'ando is a man who is very much a "me first" kind of dude. While he does have his friends and compatriots, in the end he will always look out for what is best for himself (or his dragon, or firelizard) first and foremost. This can make him seem a bit callous in his dealings with others as he would willingly offer to sacrifice another if it meant he or his would remain safe.
If he accepts a task, he will do his damndest to see it through and accomplish his goal. He doesn't seem picky about what types of tasks he takes on, for the most part anyway. He's proved himself to be a competent leader over the turns, able to give orders as well as he takes them.
He is very stoic and emotionless around nearly everyone, leading to him being rather solitary socially. He learned to hide his true feelings while under Golre's command. While he doesn't need to act like that anymore, the habit stuck with him even though turns have passed. The mask can slip if he is comfortable around someone, as well as disappearing entirely when he is alone in his weyr with just Niraith and Grogu.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Adina (Mother, deceased)
Sentre (Father, deceased)
Gyanna (adopted mother, deceased)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: none
BIRTHPLACE: cothold in High Reaches
HISTORY: TW Death, mention of abuse
M'ando was actually given the name Din when he was born, though no one but his deceased parents ever knew that. His mother died in childbirth, and it wasn't very long after that his father left him an orphan. Shortly after Din turned one, his father was part of the tithe train that was bringing tithe to High Reaches Weyr. While they were on route, Sentre sickened. The Healers at the weyr took him in, deeming him too ill to travel back to his cothold. Especially with a young child. Din was sent to the creche as the healers seemed optimistic and didn't want him to leave his father. Alas, Sentre took a turn for the worse and passed. He was never able to tell the healers his child's name and Din was too young to be speaking. So in the end, Din became a weyrbrat and was given the name Morando by the lower caverns wet nurse who raised him.
From then on, Morando had a usual weyrbrat life. He was told what little they knew about him from before, though Morando had no interest in leaving the Weyr that had become his home. When he was old enough, he was pressured into becoming a candidate. He learned quickly and kept his head down. It took a few turns, and many clutches, but finally an egg cracked and Brown Nirairth hatched for him. His adoptive mother was so proud and got him a firelizard egg as a gift. This hatched into a little green Morando, now M'ando, named Grogu.
Weyrling training went well enough, and as a Brownrider under Golre, he wasn't treated all that badly. He showed the proper deference when needed, and while he didn't go out of his way to abuse or mistreat the so called "lesser" colors, he did give them lip service if he was in a crowd that expected him to.
He likes to not remember those turns of his life that he served under Golre. He was forced to do some reprehensible things to his fellow man. He followed the orders he was given rather than risk punishment by resisting, but took no pleasure in it.
When Golre declared war on Fort, he participated, albeit unwillingly. He fought hard, and lucked out without any serious injuries. He was there in the final attack when Golre was killed. Finally free, he returned to High Reaches and withdrew from everything.
The fact that Greens were allowed to abstain from Firestone never bothered him. He knew without a Gold, the weyr had to survive somehow. The Garnets never bothered him either. More dragons in a weyr that desperately needed them were a good thing, even if they didn't fit the old mold.
He tended to stay out of the limelight for the following turns, both because he was a follower of Golre and because he just didn't want to. He came down with the plague, but managed to pull through, though he worried both Niraith and Grogu at the time.
Using a council instead of a more traditional Weyrleader and Weyrwoman was a bit hard for M'ando to wrap his head around at first. Even turns later he isn't quite used to the idea, though he accepted it, and even started thinking about applying himself.
Recently, the wing of Moonshot found itself needing a Wingleader. M'ando decided to apply, as he felt it would look good to the Weyr if he ended up campaigning to join the council in the future. He got the position, and the brownrider looked towards a bright future.
