FULL APPEARANCE:

Eglantine’s fairly plain, with short brown hair and big dark eyes. She dons riding gear most of the time but she’s also quite partial to dresses and skirts when she's having some down time. She also does her best to keep herself clean and presentable when she can help it. She’s not adverse to dirt but she hates not being able to clean herself up in a timely fashion. While she is slightly heavier set, she’s also quite tough and sturdy. She doesn’t shy away from physical labor and loves a chance to be active and keep herself in shape. It’s a far cry from the rest of her family, who were naturally lean and tall.

Eglantine doesn’t think of herself as a particular special or outstanding person. She keeps herself humble as much as she can by reminding herself where she started, and always wants to help those younger than her. She has a knack for telling who has potential, though is willing to help mentor and assist anyone regardless of the fact. She’s normally very mellow and willing to forgive a lot, but you don’t want her to actually get mad or insistent. She is relentless and will chew anyone out if they’ve really messed up that badly in her eyes. She’s willing to go easier on those younger than her, but she does genuinely care about those around her, hence why she gets so angry when do reckless things and endanger themselves.

She hopes to start a family one day, but knows that she could die at any point in her line of work. So while she doesn’t have her hopes up, she also is optimistic that maybe she’ll be able to have children at some point. Of course, she’s willing to adopt if that doesn’t work out. She, like her dragon, has a strong maternal instinct and loves children. Hence why she also wants to do a lot more Search dragon work when she can.

Intra-weyr politics only mildly interest her, and she only pays close attention when any of the policies really focus on the Candidates or the Weyrlings. she knows that such young minds are the future of the Weyr and wants to help them do their best in life. She's always open to answer questions they might have, or help them with problems to the best of her ability.

HISTORY:

Noctus and Merella were hard working Starcrafters, and longed to have a nice little family. But their first, Kludd, was a real handful. He was out of the proverbial nest by 16 turns, and was deceased by the time Eglantine was old enough to really learn about him.

Her brother Kludd was power hungry and traditional to a fault. He impressed at 18 turns to a bronze, but died during his second Threadfall due to recklessness on his part. Sorren was a lot more mellow and followed his parents’ footsteps into Starcrafting. Eglantine was left at a weird crossroads, not entirely sure what she wanted to do with her life. She was hesitant to pursue Candidacy despite her parents giving her their blessing. But she decided that she’d do it. After all, Kludd had been reckless and not followed the rules. She would learn from his mistake and keep her head down.

Her Candidacy was surprisingly uneventful, as she made friends and grew into a responsible young lady. But she was unsure if her dragon would ever end up being something she could handle. She didn’t want some unruly bronze or a towering brown, and especially not an uppity gold. Her fears were unfounded though, as she attended a Hatching soon after her 18th birthday and Impressed to a brown. However, it was not anything like she expected, as her brown was not only the most quiet and unassuming thing, it was also a female identifying dragon. Unusual, yes, but nothing that Eglantine thought to be a dealbreaker. Anselth was everything she could have ever wanted in a dragon: calm and collected and overall not rowdy. She’d heard horror stories of Kludd’s dragon being an absolute terror and Kludd had done nothing to stop his dragon’s bad behavior, save for when it would interfere with him graduating to a full rider. Thankfully, that wouldn’t be a problem with HER dragon.

The pair worked hard, with Anselth being otherwise as bog standard as far as a dragonet went. They both went on to become full dragon riders with little issue, and spent many happy turns on Ista Isle, fighting Thread and doing Searchdragon work. Anselth had an excellent eye for finding future candidates and not brooking any sort of insolence from those who were not selected.

Eventually, though, Eglantine and Anselth moved to High Reaches when Eglantine was 25 turns old. Sorren needed to move there as part of his Starcrafter work, and she’d wanted to follow her brother so he wouldn’t be lonely. He was happy to get a ride with her, and they soon settled into their new home. Of course, it was a lot more tense and serious than what Eglantine was used to, and it took a little while for her and her dragon to settle completely. But after a Turn, they were more than happy in their new Weyr.

FULL APPEARANCE: Anselth is a pale, cream-brown color over most of her body, from tip of muzzle to tips of tail. Around her face, a darker ring of color gives her a heart shape that frames her eyes and muzzle; this same rich, ambery-brown covers the back and inside of her wing sails, as though she's been dipped in liquid toffee. This color also trickles most of the way down her tail. Across her headknobs and the top ridges of her skull, a soft yellow tone seems to dust her hide, giving beautiful contrast. Her body is lean and muscled, a fact that shows along her tall, lanky frame. She is extremely quick on ground or in the air, graceful and silent.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Anselth is the epitome of quiet, an almost constant silence among the cliffs and ledges of High Reaches. In her opinion, she does enough standing out simply by being born a female brown; she prefers to blend in, to watch and observe the world around her. She's got a mild curiosity to her, something that helps her study and learn about the people and world around her almost constantly. Anselth is a people observer, someone who will sit among the various hiding places in the Weyr and simply observe. She enjoys learning about people and dragons both this way, building dossiers of them in her head and sharing them with her rider as a way to get to know the people they coexist with. She has a driving need to know these things, a way to protect her bonded as well as learn what she can before she reaches out to make a connection with someone.

Anselth can seem very shy to others; this is less true, and more just an outsider's view of the pretty brown. While in reality she does not let very many people past her polite, friendly filter she is by no means rude or uncouth. She can be very cordial and always treats others with respect, something she prides herself on. While she is perhaps a little asocial, she can blend into a crowd, able to chameleon her feelings or tones to match that of a crowd or group that has assembled for a time. In this way, she finds it easier to get information and find common ground, instead of being withdrawn and sour towards those resources that may well be someone she needs to know at a later date. Programmed to be ready for anything, she is nonetheless kind and compassionate to those who become someone within her inner circle, and can be quite protective over young of all kinds, an odd maternal streak she keeps close to herself.[/quote]
