FULL APPEARANCE: On the tall, gangly side of average, Alric will always look like he's still growing into his height, though he's definitely done going upwards. Despite his sharp jawline, he has a certain boyishness about him. He's usually found smirking, though his gaze can be surprisingly penetrating. His dark hair is usually messy, and it's a toss-up whether he just forgot to brush it or deliberately messed it up for "fashion." He has a fondness for fancy, brightly-colored jackets despite the rest of his clothing being utilitarian. Anaiya refers to him as looking like a bird, and she might be right in some ways.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Being the son of a drudge born through Flightlust, Alric really has no respect for people being born into things. Lord Holders? Just because they happened to be born into the right family? Do they actually know anything about how to run a Hold? Might there not be better-qualified people out there? He thinks even less of Weyrleaders and Weyrwomen, if that were possible. They get a shiny dragon and are suddenly in charge of everyone? Bollocks. He does respect wingleaders and high-ranking crafters, though. They worked to get where they are.
Alric likes non-leader people in general, though. He really does. He just...doesn't show it that easily. His personas might seem friendly, but in reality, it takes a long time for his true self to open up and show the affection he really does feel. He's very good at adapting himself to what he needs to be; it's how he got out of Benden in the first place. Observant, he's able to mimic the mannerisms of everyone from lords to craftsmen, though he tends to forget himself, over-exaggerate, and get caught.
Not all of Alric's personas are completely fake; he takes rather well to the leadership roles that he so despises, though he denies this vehemently. He doesn't want to be a spoiled lordling, no matter how much money or opportunity it might get him in the short run! Still, he's more than capable of organizing and convincing people to follow him. He does have an unfortunate tendency to run from his responsibilities and is a notorious procrastinator. Still, when he himself or someone else keeps him in check, he does rather well. He just needs some structure, contrary to what he thinks.
Alric does have a fun side, and was a notorious prankster in his youth. He's more subtle about it now, after some hard lessons, but he'll never grow out of it completely. He appreciates being juvenile at the end of the day. It relieves the stress of life, and it's just fun, shard it.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Maili (mother), Anaiya (foster sister)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
HISTORY: Born out of Flightlust to a drudge and a rider, Alric never knew his father and was raised by his mother, who loved him dearly. She soon adopted a sister for him and the family became inseparable. Anaiya preferred to stay out of Alric's pranks, which was good for her. Just when Alric was preparing to Stand for his first clutch, he got caught salting a hated bronzerider's food and was barred from candidacy. Anaiya escaped punishment and, a few Turns later, Impressed a lovely green. Alric loved Adasheth immediately, and became bitter that he had lost his chance at a dragon.
He spent what would have been his Turns as a candidate doing odd jobs around the Weyr, gaining a smattering of skills in various crafts, as well as developing his talent for acting in some shady schemes. He didn't try anything too big, but he nearly got caught several times.
Anaiya had her snafu with a bronzerider in turn, and Alric wanted out. He managed to wheedle the way for himself and his mother into a trader caravan, and they made their long and arduous way to High Reaches. Freshly arrived, he managed to secure a Search, and is excited to finally get to Stand for a dragon, especially now that Golre's metallic-centric reign is over. He rather likes the new hierarchy of High Reaches and has nothing but respect for Na'ri and Samdae despite not actually having met them. He thinks whers are pretty cool, too.
