Legoshi is an imposing figure. He towers over much of the population of PERN, and still isn't done growing! His hair is black and somewhat shaggy despite his best efforts, hanging in his face. He's strong, but the length of his legs and torso somewhat disguise just how strong. It doesn't help that he carries himself hunched over slightly, which gives him a false appearance of being smaller than he is. His shoulders are broad and his upper body toned and strong.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Legoshi has a mostly gentle personality. He's soft-spoken, humble, and polite above all else, contrasting sharply with his appearance. He knows he looks intimidating, and does his very best to downplay himself. This comes in the form of intentionally making himself appear smaller, speaking quietly, and trying his very best to look friendlier. Many years anxiety fueled feelings of isolation have lead to him underestimating himself and has ruined his self esteem. He's too self-aware; feeling that his size and stature is off-putting, and doesn't do well in social situations. This has also led him to be somewhat naive and dense when it comes to others and himself. He often doesn't know how to carry himself or how to properly react to something, including his own feelings.
To him, he feels like being assertive isn't a strength. His anger has a tendency to burst out, short and explosive, before he reigns himself in. He doesn't know how to navigate some of his negative emotions, and will need to find proper, healthy outlets as he ages. Despite all this, Legoshi is empathetic and does his best to understand others, though he's very often not good at it.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Leano (Mother, Deceased)
Miyagi (Father, absent)
Gosha (Grandfather, mother's side)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: A small Hold east of High Reaches
HISTORY: TW: Death
Legoshi was born to a young mother and an absent father. Leano was kind and loving, and she's the only reason Legoshi even knows who his father is. The first ten turns of Legoshi's life were uneventful, growing up under the watchful eye of his mother and grandfather. After those first ten quiet turns though, Leano had a bout of illness that left her weaker. She lived, but she seemed to get sick far more often than Legoshi could ever remember. By 11, he had been mostly separated from her out of fear that whatever she had would spread to him. And, ultimately, by 12, his mother had died from another wave of illness.
Legoshi, though saddened by his mother's passing, still had his very caring grandfather to look after him. They grieved together, moved on together, and Legoshi was content with his life for several turns. He often kept to himself, feeling that he scared and intimidated the other kids at his Hold. This wasn't the case, but his anxiety told him that was the case. His grandfather worried that his social anxiety was beginning to make him reclusive, and sought for a way to bring him out of his shell. As luck would have it, a searchdragon stopped by their Hold one day when Legoshi was 16. Gosha saw the opportunity for what it was, and steered Legoshi in the dragon's direction.
It took some encouragement and a bit of bravery for Legoshi to accept being searched. The idea of it was daunting compared to his quiet hold life, but Gosha assured him he was more than strong enough for being a rider. Legoshi didn't find pride in that thought, but felt some in the idea of protecting people. The trip to High Reaches was uneventful, much to Legoshi's relief, but it gave him time to worry about the other people at the Weyr.
The sudden appearance of eggs on the sands, accusations of theft, and the turmoil of High Reaches almost made him consider going home. He didn't agree with the morals behind stealing eggs, even if they were desperate for numbers in the wings. The more he thought about it, though, the more he realized that leaving wouldn't change anything. If he stayed, there was a chance he could help.
