FULL APPEARANCE:
Jack is middling-height for a Pernese man, muscular and has tanned brown skin and bright brown eyes. His dirty blond hair is perpetually messy and thick, kept short--when wet it falls just past his ears. He has a habit of wearing colorful jewellery carved from wood and held with rope, with a necklace of one of of Hauruth's baby teeth worn around his neck.
Clothing-wise, he prefers loose fitting garments in shades of brown and tan.

Upon first meeting, Ja'kku seems rather cold and distant, refusing to rely on the help of others and claiming he can handle things on his own. He gets annoyed with people easily and often only tolerates others in long periods during Threadfall and drills. Otherwise he tends to keep to himself. Although Ja'kku is capable of admitting his faults and apologizing if ever he ends up in a confrontation, he tends to jump to conclusions about others--often to the negative.
He has a strong sense of justice, going so far as to go against friends and family if he thinks what they are doing is wrong. This of course means he will tell the proper authorities when confronted with wrongdoings or plans of wrongdoings, so he's definitely not the one to go to if someone plans on breaking any rules. He also hates cheaters and cheating of any sort, even taking the path of most resistance if it means he won't be seen as or suggested of cheating. At the same time, he's fiercely competitive and will see a challenge through to the end regardless of whether others think he may win or lose--striving until the very end.
Interestingly, despite his social aversion, he tends to get inspired by people around him, especially if they go against the flow and stay honorable in their pursuits.

HISTORY:
Ja'kku, born and raised Jarikku, was the child of a greenrider and brownrider pair at Ista Weyr. While he grew up knowing his parents and later would be joined by two siblings from the same couple, he was raised like many riders' children in the creche. There, he became friends (though he would rarely deign to call them that as he grew older) with many of those around his age, especially one in particular named Vil to whom he secretly looked up to. Although he didn't hang around under the other boy, preferring to be his own leader, he did keep an eye on him from afar.
As he aged and eventually became eligible for Candidacy, he stood for several Hatchings without success. It wasn't until one fateful Summer evening that he would bond to Hauruth, a portly little brown hatchling who squeakily bugled his claim to the whole Weyr and then promptly fell asleep the moment they were given their new room. Although Jarikku, now named Ja'kku, thought the brown might grow out of his sleeping habit as he aged, he was surprised to find that... no, that was just how he was. He slept at most opportunities, lazing around their Weyr or sunning himself on the ridge (and sleeping) unless he was needed.
Although his home was at Ista, he would steadily find himself becoming restless. Even as he aged with his dragon, who was perfectly happy to stay wherever his rider wanted, he couldn't help the itch that sat just under his skin. Perhaps it was because he heard that Vil was moving to High Reaches that finally got him to kick into gear. Although the two had been loose friends, riders together in the Weyr, they weren't weyrmates or anything like that so following him seemed strange. Even so, Ja'kku arranged for transfer to High Reaches once his dragon was old enough, internally claiming it was just because he was going somewhere he knew others instead of completely starting over.
