PLAY-BY: Karen Gillan
FULL APPEARANCE: While her flaming hair made her look like a little hellion as a child, Aniya has grown into her locks and her looks, and has become a very pretty and feminine woman indeed. Her face is soft, with full cheeks and a delicate chin. A turned-up nose over full and well-lined lips gives her a very feminine appearance, while the sharp arched eyebrows over stormy seafoam eyes hint at her inner strength of will and sense of humor. Aniya is very expressive with her face, and has a tendency to make silly faces to emphasize her points. When that delicate chin goes up and those nostrils flare though, watch out!
Though Aniya is something of a tiny person, she has a certain amount of presence that tends to make people overestimate her height to 5'6" or 5'7", and give her space and room to move. Of course, while people overestimate her stature, in reality Aniya has to stand on her tip-toes or find a stool or suitably tall person in order to reach things on high shelves, hang pictures or tapestries, or in general do any task above 6 feet in a room.
She dresses very like a typical wherhandler, preferring to layer shirts with jackets, pants to skirts, and dark greys. She does, however, have a fondness for flashy jewelry, particularly showpiece necklaces.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Aniya is playful, outgoing, and friendly. As a child, she was seen as a bit too gregarious, often escaping the creche to go on gallivants or finding the one unsupervised spot and creating... things. As a young woman, she is still very curious and impetuous, and enjoys learning new things and chasing down new adventures. She loves creatures of all kinds, from whers to trundlebugs, and has a tendency to attempt to make friends with things that should never be made friends with. Like spiders. And wherries.
Of course, let no one try to dissuade her from these things: Aniya is headstrong, and at times can approach belligerence when it comes to having her way. Logic isn't that useful in convincing her otherwise; she wants to do it, so why wouldn't she? Anyone trying to curb her pursuit of interesting things must persuade her with emotional reasoning, for she puts little stock on "you can't"s and needs to be given reasons she cares about if she's to be trusted not to do the thing. Her main curb is her overpowering fear of fire, which makes her cower and sends her into panic attacks if she's forced to come too close. She can handle hearth-fires and candles - barely - so long as she doesn't have to stray too close to them, but dragonfire and flamethrowers are panic material.
Aniya's sense of curiosity and driven inquiry has led her to become something of a jill-of-all-trades, often swapping apprenticeships around in the Weyr. She is fluent in sign language and drum-code, and likes to make up secret codes of her own to write journals in.

BIRTHPLACE: High Reaches Weyr
HISTORY: Born to dragonriding parents at High Reaches, Aniya was absolutely a Weyrbrat. To her annoyance (and occasional chagrin), she has very few memories of the parents who resonate so strongly with her brothers, nor of their dragons. She has few childhood memories; most are of interesting things in the Weyr. She had a relatively ordinary life, though, and grew up well.
Always precocious, Aniya started dogging the footsteps of various Weyr craftspeople and learning bits and drabbles of the Crafts as early as six and seven. She was formally apprenticed to the runner stables... then to the healers... then to the weavers... and the vintners... The Crechemother put her foot down when Aniya was 11 and insisted that Aniya stick with one Craft for two turns before she picked another. She picked woodcrafting and spent two turns carving buttons and learning how to cure wood, while Danyerik Impressed a dragon and got to learn about flying. On the plus side, she did manage to acquire a fire-lizard at an open Hatching, and she and Riot got into more trouble than ever.
After some deliberation, Aniya switched to harpering at the end of her two-turn apprenticeship, and found that she was actually quite engaged with learning music. It was another sort of code, and there was twists of language in song and drum that were like nothing she'd learned before. It made for a good diversion while she waited to get old enough to Stand. Though she started Standing for dragons at 15, as soon as she was old enough, she intended to also Stand for wher Clutches.
At her first wher clutch, days before her 17th nameday, Aniya bonded to blue Anisk, and her life changed forever. Though Aniya worked hard to overcome her fear of fire so she could work on the groundcrew, even the exposure therapy couldn't overcome the strength of her phobia, and so Aniya joined the healers at the Weyr, starting a new apprenticeship at the age of 18. She has mostly kept herself out of politicking, dedicating her effort to learning dragonhealing.
The appearance of Fort's stolen eggs on High Reaches' sands shocked Aniya, but she felt there was little she could do. She has started taking more of an interest in the goings-on of the Weyr again, and with Anisk at her side, is thinking of stepping outside of the Healer's Weyrs once more.
