FULL APPEARANCE:
Thila is a little shorter than average, and has been on the heavier side her entire life. Impression did nothing to change that, despite the near-constant exercise. Much to her chagrin she's not as well-endowed as the other women in her life, not possessing much in the way of "womanly curves". She uses this to her advantage with occasionally-sexist Holders, preferring to dress like a man outside of the most formal of occasions.
With her heavily freckled face and mess of red hair, Thila is easy to find in a crowd. She dresses younger than she actually is, generally managing to blend in as an older Weyrling until someone spots Luninth. It's not uncommon for her to have whatever message she was supposed to be bringing scrawled on her arm or hand instead of on paper. She always has a shard of Luninth's shell wrapped in string hanging from her neck.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
The best way to describe Thila is probably "childish". She's one of those people that never seemed to properly grow up, always finding delight in childhood pleasures. She's more than happy to run and scream with the children, and tends to find herself at home with the weyrlings more than the actual fighting wings. The more traditional lot likes to speculate that she would be better paired with a green than blue Luninth, but she's always ready to chew them out whenever they're overheard. She has a strong sense of her identity as a rider, both her pairing with Luninth and her position in the Healers Wing.
Generally friendly, Thila has always been one of those annoyingly chipper people that can always find the silver lining. She has her doubts and worries, but does her best to keep them contained to conversations with Luninth. She's generally oblivious to sarcasm and has a tendency to take people at their word, even if it doesn't make logical sense. Not someone prone to indecision, Thila will pick an option at random rather than deliberating too long.
Despite her virtues, Thila's not well suited for a fighting wing. She has absolutely abysmal spatial awareness. Luninth is able to make up for her lack of it well enough in the day to day, but trying to keep up with fast motions is enough to leave her spinning. Thila is constantly whacking her shins and elbows off of "surprise" corners, and is always the first to bow out of a dance. She's always frustrated by her inability to know where her own limbs are. The one thing guaranteed to break her happy default is her dropping something, or tripping over her own feet. She spends a lot of her time on Luninth's back, rather than risk minor injury trying to walk somewhere.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Unknown
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
BIRTHPLACE: Small farm Telgar Hold
HISTORY:
Born in Keogh, Thila never had any idea who her birth parents were. Her adoptive mother explained that they were traders that had to leave her behind unexpectedly. Thila had always been satisfied with that answer, and never really asked too many questions. Her parents were her parents, after all! She was the youngest of her adopted family's four children, and the only girl. Needless to say, she was a bit spoiled growing up! Her mother doted on her, her brothers protected her from anyone that dared make fun of her hair, and her father spoiled her the best he could. All in all, it was a pretty happy childhood.
Despite living so close to the Weyr, Thila didn't have much exposure to dragons as a young girl. Her family was generally too busy to attend most of the Gathers, and there was little reason for a rider to visit a small farm. Until the day a blue rider came around on Search, looking for her eldest brother. Thila was instantly enamoured with the giant lizard, as most twelve year olds would be, and spent the entire visit chatting to the dragon about nothing in particular. She didn't care that she never got a response, she just loved being that close to the dragon.
Ultimately, her brother didn't end up impressing. He returned to the farm a few years later, not interested in sticking around the Weyr if he couldn't be guaranteed a dragon of his own. But by that point Thila was seventeen, and able to impress on her own. She begged her parents to let her attend a Hatching, secretly hoping she would impress from the stands. But they refused - the Weyr was too far away, and there was work to be done. So she was left with only one option: pray as hard as she possibly could that another rider would be back on Search - this time for her.
A few months later, just shy of her eighteenth birthday, her prayers were answered. The very same blue rider was back! And looking for her this time! Her time at the Weyr passed by in a blur, and before she knew it she was clambering into a set of white robes and being shoved onto the red hot sands. Luninth was one of the first to hatch from his clutch, and like all dragon pairings, it was instant attachment. Thila couldn't believe her luck. She had Impressed. She was a dragon rider now! Her dream for the last five years had actually come true.
She adjusted quickly to Weyr life, acquiring a small group of friends among the other Weyrlings. And everything was great - until it was time to actually learn how to fight Thread. It turned out that Thila had absolutely none of the spatial sense required to perform well in a fighting wing. No matter what she tried, she caused chaos. Usually unintentionally! Telgar itself had no space in its Healer's Wing for her, so it was... politely requested that she transfer to High Reaches instead, a move Thila happily agreed to. Trying to keep up with the tightly timed maneuvers was almost more stressful than the idea of Thread itself! She had a knack for dealing with minor injuries on the farm, and was more than willing to get some formal training.
