FULL APPEARANCE:
A thin, wisp of a woman with a sharp triangular jaw and killer cheekbones, Moira is striking. Her ginger hair contrasts against her pale skin and vibrant blue eyes. Her hair is styled in a short fashion, often slicked back to keep stray hairs out of her eyes when she’s working. Her fingernails are kept long and sharp in a somewhat threatening fashion, as with enough pressure they’re enough to potentially cut someone. She is one of those lucky women who never look their age.
Despising dresses and skirts, Moira sticks to collared shirts, dark pants and heeled boots. These boots make her even taller than her already tall 6’5. Often times she’ll wear a long black coat with whatever she wears, ignoring the Summer heat and benefiting in the Winter cold.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
A sarcastic woman who places human advancement over ethics and morals, Moira is not afraid to take matters into her own hands if she believes that it could further her research, thus furthering knowledge itself. Moira is intelligent by all means, and she knows it. One could say that she has no morals, but that in itself is not true. She does, but they are stuck under many layers of egoism. She has a calm disposition and talks with an elegant, yet somehow almost monotone, lilt in her voice, making her almost always sound like she’s undermining you and tired of what you have to say. Often times, she is, just because she has incredibly high standards that few seem to reach.
Moira has no soft side, no sweet alter ego hidden in some long forgotten emotional closet, she’s as cut and dry as they come. Moira has never been out right violent, nor does she ever plan to be. She’s manipulative and persuasive. She believes that those who aren’t academically inclined choose to be so, and she despises that. She has an obsession with perfection and likes everything and everyone to be doing everything they do in the most efficient and effective manner possible. If you don’t have something to do, find something, and if you find something, do it right at the very least. Moira is like a business manager, she wants everyone working all the time at their utmost best. Idle hands are the devil’s worship, as they say.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Iratio (father, alive), Molary (mother, alive)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: High Reaches Weyr
HISTORY:
Moira knew that she was not like other girls, mostly due to the fact she was not born one. However, she knew that her not being a girl was completely out of the question, so, after a long and somewhat tedious conversation with her parents about gender identity and all that jazz, her family accepted what she knew to be truth. She was a girl. Moira’s parents were somewhat distant in her upbringing save for one important matter, that she excelled in her classes and lessons. If she did not, a small part of her feared that she would be abandoned by them entirely. In all of her classes, Moira studied to the brink of her capabilities and performed to the best of abilities. As she watched some of her fellow classmates fall behind, she didn’t understand why their parents weren’t as involved in their education as hers were. This lead to a distinct distaste for people who did not do their best at everything they did, as well as an intense perfectionism complex without any sense of procrastination in her bones that forced her to perform quickly and well.
When she was old enough, Moira moved away from High Reaches to Healer Hall to study, if only to get away from her constant badgering. Healing seemed like the best option to her, how would people be able to perform well if they weren't in good shape? Not only that, she had an interest in the working of human beings. She realized that, if they were distant and only cared about her success rather than her well being, than they weren’t worth her time. Studying day in day out, going to every lesson, handing in every paper due days before the actual deadline, Moira was a model student. Top of her class, even. She had no interest in the success of others as they weren’t working at the same level she seemed to be at. She graduated, highest marks, and returned to High Reaches.
She was searched not long after she returned at the age of 21. Angry that she was not able to continue her healer duties at the same amount of time as non-rider healers, Moira grew furious at Golre's reign. Unable to leave due to Golre compelling the candidates to stand, she stayed, she was forced to, but she stayed. She soon realized that if she did Impress, she would be able to join the Healer’s wing and continue her craft with the title she worked so hard to attain. She calmed down, but still held quiet resentment towards the goldrider in charge. Four passed until Moira was 25, the final year of her eligibility. Another hatching, effectively her last as she was turning 26 in another two weeks, came with great success as she Impressed to Blue Deoraith. Bolting through weyrling lessons much as she did every other set of classes she ever took, Moira became a well versed dragonrider and joined the Healer's wing as soon as she could.
Being a bluerider under Golre only increased her hatred of the situation she was under even more. She wasn't treated with the respect that she thought she deserved, and she considered leaving the Weyr on several occasions. The only reason she didn't was that she felt that her duty was centralized in the place where she was raised, they'd be lacking a healer that they needed. The war always loomed over her, be it the possibility of her being forced to fight within it or having to deal with the injured riders who returned from fighting. She never did get shipped off, but she dealt with more injured riders than you could shake a stick at. Wars ended and threadfall returned, she then dealt with burns upon burns upon scars. Moira became good at treating them and treating them quickly, but it lead to a detatch between her and others. She saw them as their visible flaws first, their injuries and physical ticks, and not as people.
When Golre fell, there was a sense of relief. Treatment of blueriders like her got better, not right away or fully but there was an improvement. With the lack of eggs on the sands, that meant that they needed another gold. But why? Moira didn't want another messed up, ruthless, nutjob gold running around and making everyone treat her like they did when Golre was in charge. Moira focused on her work and prayed that another gold wouldn't show up.
